The Senior Benefits Specialist is responsible for the administration, communication, and compliance of employee benefits programs, including health and welfare plans, and wellness initiatives. This role serves as a subject matter expert and strategic partner, ensuring that benefit offerings are competitive, cost-effective, and aligned with organizational goals.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Administer and manage employee benefits programs (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA/HSA, etc.)
- Serve as the primary point of contact for benefits-related inquiries from employees, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Assist with annual open enrollment processes, including system testing, employee communications, and employee enrollment.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA).
- Benefit reporting to analyze data, monthly billing reconciliations, and verify accuracy of enrollment data with outside vendors
- Partner with payroll and HRIS teams to ensure accurate benefits deductions and data integrity.
- Support audits, filings, and reporting requirements (e.g., 5500s, ACA reporting).
- Assist in the development and delivery of employee education and wellness programs.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred
- 5+ years’ experience with administration of benefit programs
- Strong knowledge of benefits laws and regulations.

- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate to various levels of employees and management.
- Solid analytical capabilities, decision making skills and ability to exercise appropriate judgement.
