💻 Project OverviewThis critical project supports a leading business focused on the Life Sciences domain, helping pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and and medical device companies improve manufacturing efficiency, ensure regulatory compliance, and accelerate time-to-market for life-saving products.
The team's core challenge is the modernization and expansion of complex backend systems using Microsoft technologies. As a Senior Backend Engineer, your role is pivotal: you will be responsible for maintaining and strategically refactoring existing legacy VB6 and .NET Framework applications while concurrently designing and building new, scalable services in .NET Core. This involves optimizing performance, integrating critical APIs, and driving the transition to modern architectures leveraging Azure DevOps and cloud-based deployments. Your contributions in system design and CI/CD processes are key to ensuring long-term stability and innovation.
🔑 Responsibilities- Design and develop high-quality, scalable backend services using .NET Core and .NET Framework.
- Maintain and refactor critical legacy applications, specifically those built on VB6 and older .NET Framework versions, ensuring business continuity.
- Optimize application performance and maintain database stability, primarily using SQL Server for stored procedures and query optimization.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, promoting automation and reliable deployments.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including frontend developers (React/JavaScript), product owners, and architects, on system integration and feature delivery.
- 5+ years of experience in backend development using .NET Core and .NET Framework.
- Proven experience in maintaining and strategically refactoring legacy VB6 applications and COM components.
- Strong expertise with SQL Server, including advanced stored procedures, query optimization, and solid database design principles.
- Experience developing and maintaining resilient Windows Services.
- Hands-on experience integrating various service interfaces, including REST and SOAP APIs.
- Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and practical application of design patterns.
- Practical experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
- Experience in Agile methodologies and working effectively within a remote team environment.
- Fluent English for daily communication (written and verbal).
- Demonstrated experience in migrating legacy systems to modern .NET Core and cloud-native architectures.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure services (App Services, Functions, etc.).
- Exposure to frontend collaboration (React, JavaScript) for efficient full-stack coordination.
- Understanding of performance tuning, scalability, and system optimization best practices.
- Relevant Microsoft certifications (e.g., Azure Developer Associate, .NET Developer).
This is a 100% remote position for candidates located in Latin America (LATAM).
🤝 Time Zone & CollaborationThe role requires significant daily overlap and collaboration with teams operating primarily on US CST. Flexibility to align your working hours to maximize this overlap is expected.
