Senior Backend Engineer

It manages the vendor relationships that keep operations running, the financial guardrails that prevent overspend, and the supply chain resilience that determines whether a company survives a crisis or folds under one. And yet, the people doing this work spend 80% of their time in spreadsheets. Not because they lack ambition, because the tools haven't changed in 25 years.

Pivot is building the AI operating system for procurement: enterprise-grade infrastructure that hands the manual grind to AI agents so procurement teams can do what they were actually hired to do, shape the strategic future of their companies. Our platform combines intake, approvals, vendor management, invoice matching, and ERP integrations in a single AI-native platform.

We've lived this frustration firsthand. We built Pivot because we couldn't find what we needed, and because we believe procurement shouldn't be the last function to enter the AI era. It should be the first.

The adventure started mid-2023 with three founders, former C-levels from fintech unicorns (Qonto and Swile) and highly experienced engineers from top-notch tech companies. We’ve since raised $40M in a Series B round, totaling our funding to $70M, coming from tier-1 investors. We’ve built a team of 70, are operating across 25+ countries, and are trusted by enterprise leaders like DoorDash, Lemonade, Wolt, and Flix

We're looking for smart, execution-driven people who care about building something exceptional.

Help building the whole product and the underlying tech, hand-in-hand with a team of ~25 senior engineers.

• Design clean interfaces, APIs in close collaboration with frontend engineers and product designers to inform/refine/validate concepts.

• Apply domain-driven design to keep our codebase aligned with business reality - bounded contexts, expressive models, and clean separation of concerns

• Own the delivery of complex features for enterprise clients with a focus on quality (e.g workflows for vendor’s onboarding, bank accounts validation, audit log)

• Communicate efficiently with your team mates, anticipate blockers and share due dates efficiently with Product and Ops Teams

• Help with the architecture decisions to ensure we build a robust and scalable product while maintaining a great pace of delivery.

• Contribute to the team’s effort to monitor and improve global performances (e.g database analysis, async event management)

• Contribute to the team continuous improvement with new ideas, processes and tools.

• You have 6+ years of experience in software engineering and have developed strong programming skills (e.g. Java Spring Boot, or Kotlin / Scala / C# / Ruby / Go / Python).

• You are fluent in English - it is our business language.

• You are proactive, able to prioritize, and willing to thrive in our rapidly growing startup environment.

• You pay close attention to details, are an excellent listener, and a valuable team member.

• You understand backend systems (database, authentication, API & 3rd-party integrations, security, performance) and have experience in both micro-services architectures and queue management systems

• You are rigorous about best practices (e.g. technical design, testing, code reviews,

  documentation & maintenance).

• You embrace AI tooling (e.g. Claude, Cursor, Copilot) as part of your daily workflow and continuously explore how to integrate it into your engineering practice to boost productivity and quality.

• You like solving problems and making complex things simple.

• You have a product mindset, always thinking about the user experience and delivering value.

• You are curious and open-minded, (almost) language agnostic and non-dogmatic.

• You know how to write quality code, how to code efficiently, how to make right trade-offs.

• You always want to keep learning and you are comfortable with confronting ideas.
