Backend Engineer (Java/Kotlin)

We are looking for an experienced senior back-end engineer to join us in building our Energy Management System (EMS), an interoperable, Energy Management B2B SaaS that centralises energy operations to quickly make and communicate energy-related decisions. Through our platform, energy professionals measure, understand, optimise and report energy use, costs and emissions, avoiding managing buildings manually and individually. Some of the challenges we tackle involve managing millions of energy measurements every day, aggregating building metrics, massive account setup and performance.

• Be involved in a deep refactor of some of our core components: rethinking models, extracting monolith functionalities into independent services,
  performance and scalability improvements, query optimizations.
• Collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including the infrastructure team, customer success and other development teams. Ensure that the platform runs smoothly, by taking into account security, performance and concurrency in the features you work on.
• Deploy your changes in production using CI/CD pipelines: own the whole lifecycle from the pull request to production.
• Be part of a team that is composed of Backend Developers and a Product Manager.
• Collaborate closely with our teams: infrastructure team, customer success and other development teams.
• Be accountable and proficient with the code that the team writes, keeping it clean and simple.
• Learn and improve your skills to continuously push us to deliver a higher quality product.

• Team player: you have good social skills, and you enjoy working with people to solve problems together.
• +5 years of experience working software with Java.
• Experience with relational and/or non-relational databases such as PostgresSQL, MongoDB, BigQuery.
• Familiarity with asynchronous programming techniques: streams, event-based flows, task queues, message queues.
• Familiarity with modern development and build tools such as git, maven or gradle, Spring family, docker, Github Copilot, CI/CD approaches; experience with backend testing tools and a comprehensive understanding of test pyramid.
• Familiarity with Cloud Native Infrastructure such as Lambda functions, Kubernetes, Storage, Managed Services.
• Experience designing architectures, following the best practices such as CleanCode, DDD and SOLID principles.
• Product mindset, balancing quality, performance and time-to-market.
• Conversational English at technical level

●Experience with GCP Infrastructure.

● Experience in technical mentorship and support for helping level up the skills of colleagues on the team.

● Knowledge of the Energy sector.
