Mission of the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our team dedicated to autonomous driving technology. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Go service development, a good understanding of RESTful API design and experience building fault-tolerant, real-time systems. You will play a crucial role in maintaining and expanding the backend responsible for streaming live fleet state to operators and relaying commands to the autonomy stack.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement services in Go, following a domain-driven design.
- Build and maintain event pipelines between the operator-facing layer and autonomy stack.
- Define and extend RESTful API contracts that teams can build against with confidence.
- Deliver real-time state to operators over event-driven and streaming connections, with a focus on robustness and redundancy.
- Maintain and extend operator-facing data in PostgreSQL through versioned migrations.
- Maintain and extend service instrumentation so system behavior stays observable as new features land.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of work experience in backend software engineering, or a related field.
- Experience building resilient services (e.g. graceful degradation and recovery).
- Solid experience with Go or similar backend programming languages and concurrent high-traffic systems.
- Hands-on experience designing and building RESTful APIs, preferably using a Go framework (e.g. Fiber, Gin).
- Comfortable working with relational databases, ORM, query optimization and schema migrations (e.g. Postgres, GORM).
- Comfortable working with message-driven architectures and event pipelines (e.g. Kafka).
- Proactive approach to identifying problems, performance bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
- Excellent communication skills in English and the ability to work cross-functionally with developers, QA, and operations teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience working with real-time or streaming systems (e.g. WebSockets or similar).
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana.
- Familiarity with TypeScript and ability to support the frontend team.
