This is an exciting opportunity as a Senior Backend Engineer, supporting the continued growth and evolution of Pratt & Whitney's AI-powered digital inspection solutions. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure backend systems and APIs that power our cutting-edge jet engine inspection platform across the global aftermarket network. You will work closely with Engineering, Product, and AI teams, as well as business stakeholders to design and deliver scalable digital solutions. This is a critical role supporting the continued growth of Pratt & Whitney's digital product portfolio by improving system reliability, accelerating solution delivery, and delivering exceptional customer experiences through user-centered architecture and continuous innovation.
What You Will Do- Build state-of-the-art AI products that solve real-world customer problems.
- Implement, enhance, and maintain core backend features using Python, FastAPI, and MongoDB on Azure.
- Work in an international, high-ownership team that's hungry for growth with Agile, iterative, data-driven development.
- Collaborate closely with software, Product, and AI teams to ship AI-assisted engine inspection solutions for aviation professionals globally.
- Optimize backend performance and API responsiveness for reliability and scale.
- Help shape the tech stack and level up our backend systems.
- Contribute to quality assurance guidelines, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and developer tooling.
- Apply software development best practices to ensure high-quality code, maintainable architectures, and adherence to security and coding standards.
- Proactively surface and resolve performance bottlenecks and architectural risks.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in Python backend development for SaaS platforms, with hands-on experience with FastAPI, MongoDB and Azure Cloud.
- You have strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive mindset to identify and address challenges to provide our customers with an outstanding experience.
- A track record of clean, maintainable, secure code and thoughtful architecture (you favor KISS over cleverness).
- You are curious, eager to learn, and committed to continuously expanding your knowledge within software development.
- Deep grasp of backend performance and API optimization. You can explain and defend your design choices.
- You are a team player who actively contributes ideas, gives and receives feedback regularly, and communicates early about issues, uncertainties, risks, and opportunities.
- Self-directed, proactive, and reliable at managing your own time and deadlines.
- You are familiar with an Agile/Kanban environment and embody an agile mindset and lean principles.
