The Role
Design, build, and operate distributed backend systems in Rust; develop scalable ingestion pipelines, optimize columnar storage on object storage at petabyte scale, and manage Kubernetes clusters across AWS, Azure, and GCP. The role also involves building automation for provisioning, monitoring, scaling, and maintaining managed customer clusters.

👉 As this role is very specialised we are open to hire talented engineers wherever they might be in Europe and UK trough an employee of record contract.
👉 You don't have to match 100% of the requirements. If you believe you're a strong fit, we'd love to hear from you.
🌟We just raised $35M in Series A, if you join Tsuga you will experience a strong growth.
You will join the “cluster team” composed of 7 senior engineers, all reporting directly to our co-founder and CTO Sebastien.
This team works on the core observability part of the product, the software and the deployment of managed cluster services for our clients, composed of 4 main functional building blocks:
- Ingesting — collect and receive the data
- Processing — organizing data
- Indexing — data stored in open source formats
- Querying — Query the data stored above ⬆️
- Design, build, and operate distributed backend systems in Rust.
- Develop and maintain scalable data ingestion pipelines capable of handling massive traffic spikes and real-time workloads.
- Build and optimize high-performance columnar storage systems on top of object storage technologies for peta-bytes scale volume of data
- Manage and orchestrate Kubernetes-based clusters deployed in customer cloud environments (AWS, Azure, and GCP).
- Develop tooling and automation to provision, monitor, scale, and maintain managed customer clusters in real time.
- Strong previous experience working on DataFusion, query execution on columnar format databases
- Strong previous experience in data processing at scale while maintaining performance
- Experienced in Rust or C++ and Kubernetes
- Experienced in using Vortex is a plus
- 🔥 We move fast. As an early-stage startup, we are pragmatic, we value ownership, and quick feedback over unnecessary process and hierarchy.
- 🙏 We solve problems, not blame people. When something goes wrong, we fix it, learn from it, and improve the system.
- 🛠️ We are builders. We start everything from a blank page and we lean on your colleagues' knowledge to move faster.
- 🙇 We are customer-obsessed. We dogfood Tsuga every day, so you care how the product is actually used and want to contribute ideas.
- 💥 We lean hard on AI, but not blindly. Our problems are hard and can’t be AI-slopped away.
- 🌍 We're international from day one. Every quarter, the whole team meets at our French office to align on company goals, celebrate wins, and connect with teammates from the US, UK, the Middle East, and across Europe.

The Company
What We Do
Tsuga provides an enterprise observability and monitoring platform for developers and engineering teams. Its bring-your-own-cloud architecture runs inside a customer’s AWS environment, keeping telemetry in the customer’s cloud and under its encryption keys and governance controls. The platform supports logs, metrics, traces, and application performance management, while providing dashboards, alerts, AI-powered workflows, infrastructure monitoring, and operational support without the burden of self-hosting.
