Senior Backend Engineer - Payoneer Team

Our partner Payoneer Merchant Services is Payoneer’s Munich-based Payment Orchestration Provider (POP) offering an open and provider-independent payment platform to help businesses integrate multiple payment gateways and methods on a global scale. Their platform guarantees online businesses more freedom of choice and reduced complexity in payment transactions.

Together with our partner we are building up the Belgrade team and are looking for a:

Senior Backend Engineer

to join the Data & Payouts team at Payoneer Merchant Services and help build and maintain software services for transactional data processing, fee calculation, payouts, and financial analytics.

Your responsibilities:

• Work with the Product team and other backend and frontend developers to design, implement and maintain software services for the Data & Payouts domain.

• Work independently and with high autonomy within the team.

• Foster a security-first mindset and lead by example.

• Foster a culture of documentation and knowledge sharing within and across teams.

• Foster a culture of conversations based on organisational strategy and principles in order to create alignment.

• Collaborate with others to improve team and organisational practices and processes.

• Learn new things and help the team learn new things too.

Your profile:

• Experience building Java software services for the web.

• Focus on strong engineering practices and building quality software.

• Familiarity with agile, iterative design processes.

• Good communication skills.

• Good command of spoken and written English.

Nice to have:

• Experience with the FinTech domain.

• Experience with frontend web technologies such as React.

• Experience with Kafka, BigQuery and Google Cloud Platform.

• Experience building and operating data pipelines (batch or streaming), including queues/streams, relational databases, and aggregated data.

• Experience integrating with analytics or BI systems and ensuring data quality and correctness.

• Experience with DevOps culture and practices, including collaboration across teams.

• Experience working in internationally distributed teams.
