The Role

We are the Phoenix team, which focuses on the Q&A module - a secure communication and collaboration tool within the Ideals Virtual Data Room product. The tool is designed for Enterprise customers to streamline interactions and enhance project management. It allows users to ask questions and get timely answers on critical aspects of their deals, ensuring smooth, clear, and reliable communication between all parties involved. With robust features like role-based permissions and advanced workflow management, it supports secure data handling, tracks conversations, and empowers each user to access the right information at the right time.

As the list of requests from the Enterprise clients continues to grow, we are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer (.NET) to join us remotely from Ukraine or Poland. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in developing new features, improving existing services, and supporting production environments, while fostering a strong coding culture within the Ideals Virtual Data Room product.

You’ll collaborate closely with teams across engineering, product, DevOps, and customer support, reporting to the Engineering Manager and influencing key technical and product decisions. Your expertise as a Senior Backend Engineer will help drive product development, adopt the latest technologies, stay current with modern frameworks, and uphold best engineering practices.

What You Will Do

• Participate in all phases of the SDLC as part of a cross-functional product team. This includes, but is not limited to, requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing (unit and integration tests), building, deployment, and operation of new product increments, handling change requests, defect resolution, spikes, and proof-of-concepts
• Ensure high-quality solutions by maintaining acceptable test coverage, aligned with the Definition of Done criteria
• Be a proactive team player, contributing actively to the group’s efforts to complete tasks and achieve goals
• Adhere to and drive modern software engineering practices through design reviews
• Support hiring activities by participating in technical interviews and live coding sessions to select the best technical talent for the team
• Engage in mentorship and knowledge sharing within the team and Engineering organization

What We Look For

• Over 6 years of commercial experience in backend development using .NET Framework 4.7, ASP.NET Web API, IIS, knowledge of .NET platform
• Solid understanding of the SDLC, along with software design and architecture principles
• Expertise in API design principles, with a solid understanding of REST, RPC, including security considerations
• Experience with relational databases (preferably MS SQL Server / PostgreSQL)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS is preferred)
• Expertise in writing both unit and integration tests while ensuring that best practices for testing are integrated into every phase of development
• Proficient in Docker and Kubernetes, with the ability to create and maintain Helm charts
• B2 level proficiency in English, both spoken and written

Nice To Have

• Experience in product or SaaS businesses will be a significant differentiator
• Experience with multiple products in the virtual data room domain
• Experience with .Net 6/8
• NoSQL databases experience
• AWS Certification
• Knowledge of security best practices in backend development

Our Interview Process

We believe in competency-based interviews combined with work samples and we share clear expectations for each element. Our interview assignments simulate what it’s like to work at Ideals and the type of tasks you’ll tackle. Here are the stages of the interview process for this role:

• Screening call with the Talent Acquisition Specialist (~45 mins)

• Technical interview + Live coding (2 hours)

• Competency-based interview with the Talent Acquisition Specialist (90 mins)

• Hiring Manager interview (~45 mins)
