Senior Backend Engineer (m/f/d)

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer (m/f/d) to join one of our portfolio companies and support its product development and backend infrastructure.

In your day-to-day work, you’ll focus on building scalable backend services, and get the opportunity to contribute to various projects from architecture decisions to deployment.

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and own the full software development cycle
• Write clean, functional, and maintainable code
• Build reusable code and libraries for future use
• Manage individual project priorities and deliverables, while working in a collaborative, knowledge-sharing team
• Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic
• Gather and address technical and design requirements
• Stay up to date with the latest technology trends and best practices

• Excellent communication skills — with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Strong experience in Java; additional Python knowledge is a big plus
• Hands-on experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or BigQuery
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and reusable code with solid architectural decision-making
• Familiarity with modern CI/CD pipelines and developer tools like Linters and testing frameworks
• Understanding of distributed systems and experience building microservices
• Proactive mindset — you’re not afraid to challenge the status quo and push your own ideas forward

Please note that we are looking for support in the Berlin office of our portfolio company. Eligibility to work within the EU is required as well.
