Senior Backend Engineer - Game Tech

Team

The Engineering & Data team builds innovative tech products and platforms to support the impressive growth of their gaming and consumer apps which allow Voodoo to stay at the forefront of the mobile industry. The Engineering & Data team plays a key role in Voodoo’s long-term strategy. It enables Voodoo to both accelerate product diversification and provide a state of the art growth-engine to distribute and scale our games. They create innovative solutions that drive growth with a pragmatic approach, ranging from simple searching to complex machine learning systems.

Game Tech Platform is focused on building shared tech for Voodoo’s studios so they can focus on what they do best: game development. After building a best-in-class Experimentation Platform and IAP validation service, we are now spearheading initiatives in LiveOps and User Segmentation for millions of players.

This position can be onsite or hybrid (with a minimum of 2-3 days onsite/week).

• Design & build business-focused backend applications in a cutting-edge and evolving environment
• Participate in the business strategy and vision and consistently deliver innovative solutions to our business teams
• Demonstrate technical excellence, help define best practices, test and build the product everyone will desire

• Evolve a frontend application to allow internal customers to configure new features released

Profile

• Extensive professional experience as a Backend Developer (5 years minimum not including internships)
• Extensive proven track record of successful product development such as web applications (mobile and/or desktop) that provide high value to internal/B2B/B2C end-users
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Pragmatic, adaptable, and result-oriented with a problem-solving approach
• Ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment and deal with change

MUST Have

• Strong experience in a Object Oriented or Functional programing language
• Strong experience working with NoSQL and SQL databases
• Strong experience dealing with web back-end complex topics, for example, breaking down a monolith into microservices, building a brand new system from scratch, building a rule-based engine with complex business rules, handling integrations with complex 3rd parties
• Experience working with a cloud provider such as AWS, GCP or Azure
• Experience implementing automated testsExperience with highly available systems on scale
• Basic DevOps skills for maintaining web application environments: Docker, Git, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes

Nice to Have

• Experience with infrastructure as a code
• Familiarity with principles such as Domain-Driven Design (DDD) or clean architectureFamiliarity with asynchronous programming
• Familiarity with A/B testing approaches
• Experience maintaining frontend web applications using a javascript framework
• Experience in the Gaming industry
