About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join Cyera’s CORE Engineering teams — a small, senior group responsible for the internal foundations on which the entire product is built.

This is a high-impact, cross-organization role. Everything you build is used by 200+ engineers and affects every service in production: microservice frameworks, common services, databases, inter-service and cross-cluster communication, build and CI pipelines, deployment flows, and release processes — all at high scale, high speed, and production grade.

The scope, priorities, and scale challenges evolve constantly as Cyera grows. You’ll be expected to adapt quickly, make pragmatic technical decisions, and design systems that can evolve without slowing the organization down. This role is ideal for a senior engineer who enjoys working close to the foundations, collaborating broadly, and owning complex systems in fast-changing environments.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, build, and evolve core backend infrastructure with organization-wide impact
  • Own shared frameworks, services, and libraries used across the company
  • Work closely with multiple product teams as requirements, scale, and constraints change
  • Continuously improve systems to support growth, new use cases, and increased scale
  • Take full ownership of production systems, from design through deployment and operation

Core Responsibilities

Core Frameworks

  • Build and evolve Cyera’s NestJS service framework and shared modules
  • Design and maintain application-level Kafka infrastructure and usage patterns
  • Contribute to and maintain Cyera’s TypeORM integration and internal fork
  • Implement and enforce global exception handling and service standards
  • Help define and evolve deployment standards across services

Production & Scale

  • Own production-grade backend components designed for continuous growth and change
  • Design and evolve autoscaling mechanisms for async and event-driven workloads
  • Debug and resolve complex production issues across services
  • Improve database performance, scaling strategies, and migration safety
  • Continuously refine monitoring and alerting as system behavior evolves

Architecture & Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate with DevOps and product teams on evolving infrastructure architecture
  • Ensure alignment between application code and continuous deployment infrastructure
  • Act as a technical partner to product teams building on CORE infrastructure
  • Participate in company-wide discussions on engineering standards and best practices

Release & Delivery

  • Contribute to and improve the company’s release processes
  • Support teams with safe, optimized migrations during continuous growth

What You Bring

  • 6+ years of experience in backend or core systems engineering
  • Strong experience building and operating large, evolving production systems
  • Proven ability to work effectively in fast-changing, ambiguous environments
  • Experience contributing to or owning shared frameworks, platforms, or internal tooling
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD, production operations, and observability
  • Strong collaboration skills and comfort working across many teams
  • High sense of ownership and responsibility for system outcomes

Nice to Have

  • Experience in high-growth startups or scale-up phases
  • Background in CORE / infrastructure / internal engineering teams
  • Kafka-heavy or event-driven architectures
  • High-scale PostgreSQL environments
  • Familiarity with NestJS, TypeORM, or similar backend frameworks
  • Experience supporting large (200+), fast-growing engineering organizations
