LOCATION: Apply Digital is hybrid/remote friendly. The preferred candidate should be based in Canada, working in hours that align to ET (Eastern Timezone) or PT (Pacific Timezone).

THE ROLE:

We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer with a passion for technology, a drive for continuous improvement, and a strong commitment to designing and building high-quality, scalable applications. This role requires collaboration with a dynamic team to surpass business objectives, mentoring emerging talent, and fostering client relationships through innovative back-end solutions.

What You’ll do:

• Implement robust, test-driven backend solutions using NestJS, ensuring scalability, security, and high performance.
• Develop and maintain APIs, to facilitate integration and enhance system interoperability.
• Create comprehensive documentation, adhering to best practices in development workflows to streamline project execution.
• Leverage your expertise to actively participate in technical discussions and decision-making processes.
• Contribute to innovation by proposing cutting-edge solutions to improve the project’s solution and address client needs.
• Coach junior engineers, providing guidance on technical skills development and fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence within the team.

What We’re looking for:

• Minimum 4+ years of professional programming experience implementing scalable and secure software systems with NestJS, and other back-end technologies like C#, Java and Node.JS.
• Experience in JavaScript/TypeScript and React for full-stack development.
• Proven experience implementing secure, efficient backend systems and APIs.
• Proficiency in unit testing frameworks and development best practices to ensure code quality and reliability.
• Solid foundation in web technologies, backend design patterns, and both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Understanding of microservices architecture and serverless technologies.
• Understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies.
• Understanding of secure coding practices and common security vulnerabilities in backend systems (e.g. OWASP Top 10).
• Experience working with Agile Teams following best practices.

Nice to Haves:

• Familiarity with DevOps (AWS, GCP) etc.
• Experience with cloud and serverless technologies for scalable solutions.
• Background in e-commerce platform development.
• Advanced skills in CI/CD, Git, and automated testing.
• Ability to rapidly learn and apply new technologies.
