WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Build, manage and optimise Microsoft Azure infrastructure
- Drive CI/CD, automation and release management
- Help build and migrate PayFast to Kubernetes
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Monitor environments using ELK/OpenSearch and log monitoring
- Troubleshoot complex Linux, server and application issues
- Manage firewalls, patching, security and incident response
- Support databases, configuration and build management
- Research and introduce new technologies and improvements
- Collaborate closely with Development, Testing and Operations teams
Requirements
Essential Technical Skills:
- Matric + Bachelor’s Degree — RHCE, ISO 27001 or PCI certifications are advantageous
- Strong Linux expertise across Linux-based operating systems
- Azure Cloud Infrastructure Certification – Must Have
- Docker & Kubernetes containerisation
- CI/CD Pipelines: Jenkins and/or GitLab CI
- Scripting & Development: Bash, Python, PHP, Perl, Java or Go
- Infrastructure as Code: Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef or SaltStack
- Web Servers: Apache, Nginx, PHP-FPM and Node.js
- Load Balancing technologies and environments
- NoSQL & Distributed Technologies: Redis, MongoDB, Pub/Sub and Key/Value stores
- Replication technologies
- Messaging & Queues: RabbitMQ / MQ
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Provide Level 1, 2 and 3 operational support across Azure environments, working closely with client engineering teams.
- Design, develop and implement new Azure services, including technical documentation.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring and skills transfer where required.
- Support the development and enhancement of security controls, policies and governance.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, security, reliability and operational efficiency.
- Participate in after-hours or scheduled change activities when required.
- Work as an on-premise resource, collaborating with remote engineering teams.
- Become an integral part of the team and remain flexible and hands-on across changing priorities.
- Take a proactive approach to continuous improvement, rather than simply reacting to incidents.
Skills Required
