Senior Automation QA (Java) Engineer

Ciklum is looking for a Senior Automation QA (Java) Engineer to join our team full-time in Ukraine.

About the role:

As a Senior Automation QA (Java) Engineer, become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow working on our innovation projects. The role is required to be comfortable working against projects early on in their lifecycle and dynamic requirements. The engineer should be skilled in system design and able to target specific levels of testing where needed. An understanding of Risk Analysis is ideal as is working with mobile apps, web applications, apis and LLMs.

Responsibilities:

• Automation Testing (Primary): Design, write, and maintain test scripts for web interfaces and backend APIs. Integrate tests into the CI/CD pipeline.
• Manual Testing (Pre-Live): Perform exploratory and functional testing on new features, UI updates, and complex logistics edge cases before deployment.
• Collaboration & Defect Tracking: Work closely with developers to log, replicate, and test bugs. Participate in sprint planning to ensure requirements are testable.

Product & System Scope

• You will be responsible for validating the following systems:
  • DispoHub: A real-time mapping and live-view tool tracking active orders and courier deliveries.
  • Job Dashboard: An agent-facing hub featuring live KPI dashboards, search functions, and alerts for problematic orders (e.g., oversized orders).
  • Automated Logic: Core backend workflows that automatically detect order anomalies, system automatic solutions for some problemtic orders while some would require automatic assignment tasks to live ops agents depending on their role & priorities.
  • Ability to work independently as the sole QE on the team & support both teams in Berlin & Canada.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of professional experience in QA Automation of Web and backend/API testing
• Experience writing and maintaining code in Java, whether automation or as a developer
• Excellent knowledge of different testing methods, techniques, types, and methodologies
• Experience in the creation or active maintenance of test documentation
• Coaching developers and working with other QEs to achieve results
• Experience in the creation of automation frameworks from scratch
• An understanding of different tools used for automation
• Experience with  BDD, ATDD, or TDD approaches
• Experience with implementation of continuous integration processes and tools, CI/CD pipelines 
• Experience of working in an Agile Scrum/Kanban development environment
• Good English skills – Upper-Intermediate and above
• Being comfortable with the unknowns 

Desirable:

• Knowledge of microservices and event driven architecture
• Knowledge of mobile automation
• Knowledge of web automation
• Experience with risk management
• Experience with CI/CD
• Experience with compliance testing 
• An understanding of product data analytics
