Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)
We're looking for an experienced SDET to join a team building and testing large-scale data platforms within a Benefits domain. You'll work closely with Engineers, Product Managers, QA Engineers, Data Engineers, and Technical Managers to ensure high-quality, reliably automated releases — supporting a system that runs millions of automated tests per year, fully integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
What you'll do:
- Analyze front-end and back-end systems for quality and reliability
- Design and deploy automated testing at scale
- Build and execute automated test cases to ensure robust, reliable service pipelines
- Perform integration testing across systems and interfaces (APIs, databases, flat files)
- Partner with engineering teams on requirements and technical design reviews to bake automation into new features from the start
- Evaluate and evolve existing data test automation frameworks
- Recommend and implement modern automation tools and techniques
- Maintain and improve automated tests within CI/CD pipelines
- Champion quality ownership across the team
- Enable fast, direct feedback loops on every code submission
What we're looking for:
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
- 4+ years as an SDET or in software development, using C#, Python, or Go
- Strong grasp of Object-Oriented Programming
- Comfortable working across Windows and Linux
- Experience with a major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining automated test frameworks
- Performance testing experience (JMeter, Locust, Gatling, or K6)
- Experience spotting quality issues in data collection, storage, and processing
- Solid experience with relational databases (SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres, Oracle, MariaDB)
- Experience with streaming platforms (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Pub/Sub)
- Strong Git workflow experience
- CI/CD platform experience (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, CircleCI, GitLab, Codefresh, Rundeck)
- Root Cause Analysis and SLA/incident management experience
- Experience debugging and parsing data pipelines
- Solid QA methodology foundation: functional, performance, regression, black-box, white-box testing
- A genuine passion for learning and clearly explaining technical concepts
Nice to have:
- Healthcare domain knowledge — especially EDI, NCPDP, and transaction processing in pharmacy/PBM contexts
- Experience in HIPAA-, PCI-, or other high-security coding environments
- Open source contribution history
