The Impact you will have

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to join our Infrastructure Operations team. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in Linux Operating Systems to design, implement, and optimize automation solutions that enhance system reliability and efficiency.

The Senior Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions to optimize operations across technology and business environments. This role focuses on improving efficiency, reliability, and compliance through automation of processes, systems, and workflows. The engineer will work with various tools and platforms to build and maintain scalable automation solutions that reduce manual effort and operational costs.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement complex automation solutions to streamline infrastructure and business processes.
  • Analyze existing workflows and automation solutions, identify opportunities for improvement, and optimize them to enhance efficiency and scalability.
  • Develop and maintain reusable automation frameworks, scripts, and components for scalability and maintainability, including creating process documentation and designing workflows.
  • Integrate automation into enterprise platforms, across multi-cloud environments, and advanced CI/CD pipelines to support operational and development needs.
  • Ensure and establish compliance, governance, and security standards are met across all automation solutions.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize automation workflows to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to gather requirements, validate processes, communicate automation strategies and benefits, and deliver complex automation projects.
  • Maintain and upgrade automation platforms, ensuring high availability, disaster recovery, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Stay current with emerging automation technologies and best practices to continuously enhance capabilities.
  • Develop and execute testing strategies to validate automation solutions.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of related professional experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.
  • Cloud Service Provider Certification (e.g., AWS Cloud Practitioner, Azure Fundamentals, etc.) – required within 1 year of employment
  • Essential Candidate Qualities:
    • Creative thinking, strong communication skills, creativity, curiosity, self-motivated, time managements skills
  • Configuration and administration experience with:
    • Windows OS, Active Directory System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Ansible Automation, Redhat, AWS or Azure Cloud

    Knowledge, experience, and familiarity with:
    • Kubernetes Cluster Management
  • High school diploma (or equivalency) and legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Virtualization (Hyper-V, VMware) and containerization (Kubernetes, OpenShift)
  • Familiarity with cloud migration tools
  • Certifications in AWS, Azure, Dell, or HP infrastructure

Compensation and Benefits

$100,000.00 - $135,000.00 - $170,000.00 Annual

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including skills, ability, and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.
