This is a remote position.

Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE) requires a Senior Information/Records Management/Recordkeeping Specialist (ATIP) to support the processing of a large and complex Access to Information request — approximately 40,222 pages. This work is tied to a complaint/order from the Office of the Information Commissioner of Canada, and the request must be fully processed, reviewed, consulted on, and released — including interim releases — by the fixed deadline of August 1, 2028.

WAGE advances equality with respect to sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity or expression through the inclusion of women and 2SLGBTQI+ people in every aspect of Canada's social, economic, and political life. Due to limited in-house capacity, WAGE needs an experienced ATIP specialist to manage this voluminous file from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and document a project plan with appropriate milestones and work objectives to meet the fixed delivery deadline
  • Process and complete the Access to Information request in full accordance with the Access to Information Act
  • Conduct and document consultations with third parties as required under the Act (via OneNote, email to the ATIP Coordinator, and the processing system)
  • Engage directly with the requestor for clarifications as needed
  • Engage with the Office of the Information Commissioner as appropriate
  • Plan and execute periodic interim releases, with appropriate consultations and justifications documented for the ATIP Coordinator
  • Apply severance decisions in alignment with the Act and relevant jurisprudence, with documentation provided to the ATIP Coordinator
  • Produce lessons-learned documentation on processing voluminous ATI requests within small institutions, for the Project Authority and ATIP Coordinator

Deliverables

  • Project Plan — accepted upon written review and approval by the Project Authority
  • Processed ATIP Request — accepted when the final release is issued in compliance with the Access to Information Act and within the mandated deadline
  • Lessons Learned Documentation — accepted upon written submission and approval by the ATIP Coordinator

Requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Access to Information Act, related Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) policies and directives, and current ATIP practice
  • Experience processing large-volume, complex Access to Information requests, including managing internal and external consultations (some sequential) and interim releases
  • Experience applying severance decisions in accordance with the Act and applicable jurisprudence
  • Eligible to obtain or currently hold a Level II (Secret) security clearance
  • English or French language proficiency (Essential)
