Role Level: Senior Associate
As a Senior Alternative Fund Accountant, you will be responsible for leading the accounting, reconciliation, and reporting processes for hedge funds, private equity funds, and other alternative investment portfolios. You will review deliverables prepared by junior team members, ensure timely NAV completion, and act as a key contact for clients, auditors, and internal stakeholders.
Key ResponsibilitiesFund Accounting & NAV Review- Review and finalize daily/weekly/monthly NAV calculations for hedge funds or private equity funds.
- Analyze P&L drivers, valuation impacts, and pricing exceptions.
- Oversee journal entries, accruals, corporate actions, and expense accounting.
- Review cash, position, trade, and price reconciliations prepared by the team.
- Investigate and resolve breaks with brokers, custodians, and counterparties.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting policies, and client SLAs.
- Act as a point of contact for clients on operational and accounting queries.
- Support investor reporting requirements and deliverables.
- Prepare audit packages and coordinate with auditors for year‑end audits.
- Handle complex instruments including swaps, options, forwards, structured notes, private equity investments, etc.
- Review valuation inputs, pricing sources, and investment activity.
- Mentor and train junior team members on fund accounting concepts and processes.
- Allocate work, perform quality checks, and guide team through NAV cycles.
- Support process improvements and contribute to automation initiatives.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, or related field.
- 3–6 years of experience in hedge fund or alternative fund accounting, fund operations, or financial reporting.
- Strong understanding of NAV, investment accounting, and financial instruments.
- Hands‑on experience with Geneva, Investran, or similar fund platforms (preferred).
- Deep understanding of derivatives, fixed income, equities, and alternative asset classes.
- Strong knowledge of reconciliations, P&L attribution, and valuations.
- Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, Lookups, complex formulas).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to lead tasks independently and manage multiple deadlines.
- High attention to detail with strong review abilities.
