Our Global Cyber Defense team is responsible for safeguarding Pfizer's digital assets and infrastructure through proactive threat detection, response, and risk mitigation across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
The Senior Associate, Threat Hunt & Detection supports proactive threat hunting and detection activities to identify malicious behavior that may evade traditional security controls. This role focuses on executing threat hunts, supporting detection use‑case development, and analyzing security telemetry to improve the organization's ability to detect and respond to advanced threats. Operating within a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment, the role partners closely with Security Operations and Incident Response, Threat Intelligence, Data Engineering, and Cloud Services teams to strengthen detection coverage and defensive effectiveness across on‑premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct proactive threat hunting activities to identify suspicious or malicious activity using security telemetry, hypotheses, and adversary‑based techniques.
- Support the development, tuning, and validation of detection use cases, analytics, and alerting logic across security monitoring platforms.
- Analyze alerts and hunt findings to determine impact, scope, and potential next steps, escalating validated threats as appropriate.
- Partner with SOC and Incident Response teams to transition confirmed detections or hunt findings into operational response workflows.
- Collaborate with Cyber Threat Intelligence and Offensive Security teams to incorporate adversary behaviors and attack techniques into hunt and detection activities.
- Assist with documenting hunt methodologies, findings, and detection logic to support repeatability and operational maturity.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of threat hunting techniques, tooling, and workflows to reduce false positives and improve detection quality.
- Support tracking of detection and hunt metrics, including coverage, effectiveness, and recurring gaps.
- Ensure threat hunting and detection activities align with internal policies, data handling requirements, and regulatory expectations.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with focus on threat hunting, threat detection, security operations, or incident response.
- Strong understanding of attacker techniques, detection concepts, and enterprise security telemetry.
- Hands‑on experience analyzing logs, alerts, or telemetry from security monitoring tools.
- Ability to document technical findings and communicate clearly with SOC and engineering stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Working knowledge of scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash, SQL).
- Familiarity with threat intelligence and incident investigation platforms (e.g., Crowdstrike or similar) to support threat research, enrichment, and investigation activities.
- Demonstrated experience in an agile work environment possessing qualities such as a collaborative mindset, adaptability to change, and a proactive problem-solving approach.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiarity with adversary behavior mapping and threat‑informed defense approaches.
- Exposure to cloud or hybrid enterprise environments as part of detection or hunting activities.
- Understanding of operating within regulated or highly controlled environments such as healthcare, life sciences, or manufacturing.
- Experience contributing to detection improvements, hunt playbooks, or analytical automation.
- Relevant training or certifications in security operations, threat detection, or incident response.
