The Senior Associate - Tax will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations of the organization. The role will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and implementing effective internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting Manager responsibilities and tasks:

  • Ensure sensitive financial documents secured and available at any time.

  • Ensure implementation of new Companies Ordinance to prepare financial.

  • Assure compliance according to SOx requirement and ensure timely reviews.

  • Sign off SOx documents along with the finance manager.

  • Handle affiliate ICO requests to ensure accurately and timely transfer of ICO OPEX in/out of the affiliate.

  • Support in the affiliate monthly closing process.

  • Fixed assets Management:

    • Ensure affiliate fixed assets list is properly maintained and timely reviewed.

    • Support SSC on Fixed Assets Physical Count.

    • Create a capitalization form (CAP form) to add new fixed assets items.

    • Initiate the FA disposal process and managing the fixed asset sales transaction (if Any).

    • Fill the Disposal Form and send it to SSC to remove retired assets from the affiliate fixed assets list.

  • External and Internal Audit:

    • Manage external relationship with Local External Audit firms.

    • Prepare draft financials for auditors along with relevant schedules.

    • Ensure to complete external audit on time.

    • Meetings with Audit Manager and finalize the FS for sign off.

    • Build relationship with Audit Partner for getting suggestion or opinion about accounting treatments

    • Share the external audit findings with affiliate CFO and financial controller along with a clear action plan to close any control gaps.

    • Ensure timely submission of Internal Audit requirements and reply queries.

  • Responsible for managing VAT:

    • Preparation of VAT returns and other VAT reports for submission to government bodies
      Overall compliance with the VAT laws and regulations

    • Timely Submission of the reporting requirements related to VAT audits to external auditors and government bodies.

    • Collation of VAT registration number of all vendors.

    • Manage VAT audits by government bodies, prepare and coordinate appeals to support the tax position taken, and propose and implement appropriate settlement schemes.

    • Identify the VAT risks, plan remediation action and manage the implementation of the remediation plan and resolution of the risks.

    • Identify all changes in the VAT legislations, determine the VAT consequences for the affiliate and provide remediation plan and solutions. This will include liaising with external advisors.

    • Review terms and conditions in contracts and agreements to determine VAT implications.

  • Withholding Income Tax:

    • Ensure the accurate deduction of withholding of Income Tax from payments of vendors and to deposit to Government Treasury.

    • Ensure filing of withholding statement to tax authorities on monthly and annual basis.

    • Ensure to provide tax certificates / tax challans to each individual vendor.

  • Corporate tax:

    • Accountable for the completion of accurate tax returns in timely manner.

    • Negotiate with Income Tax Authority at times of Tax Audits to minimize the tax obligations.

    • Responsible for quantification and documentation of uncertain tax positions.

    • Conduct analysis and Assessments for the best case / worst case scenarios of the controversies with Tax Authority and report the most likely settlements to the management.

    • Keep business partners updated by all new tax regulations and changes in laws that have an impact on their scopes and roles either in office or the site.

    • Responsible for Preparation and submissions of Lilly’s GYEC Tax Reports.

  • Transfer Pricing:

    • Prepare and submit transfer pricing worksheets

    • Review transfer prices and update local value-added cost on annual bases.

    • Coordinate with Transfer pricing team for approval of new products transfer price.

  • Cashflow and Banking relationship:

    • Timely preparation and submission of Cash flow to region, review quarterly cash position to ensure liquidity and prepare and secure approval for needed intercompany loan.

    • Coordinate with Bank to resolve day to day issues.

    • Build relationship with bankers, which helps to understand the new laws etc.

  • Admin responsibilities:

  • Ensure to complete Minutes of Meeting of Board meeting, Annual General Meeting or Extra Ordinary General Meeting.

  • Follow-up and lead on secretarial work such as but not limited to licenses’ requirements and renewals.

Basic Requirements:

Qualification/ Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance

Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills

  • Excellent communication skills (Spoken and Written)

  • People Management Skills

Knowledge/ Language:

  • Proficiency in English (Spoken and Written)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word and Power Point)

Work Experience

  • At least (5) years of relevant work experience.

  • Demonstrated experience with performance measurement systems, metrics and service levels.

  • Strong knowledge and experience of SAP.

Others:

  • Works well under pressure.

  • Accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Develop and deliver accounting presentations and training.

  • Capable of problem solving and conflict resolution whilst maintaining a positive group dynamic.

  • Self-motivated professional with excellent customer service and strong working/team building relationship skills.

  • Independent forward thinker on process improvements.

  • Ability to exercise effective judgment, sensitivity and creativity to changing needs and situations.
