At Aprio, we're looking for an experienced Senior Tax Associate who wants more than just another busy season. This is a hybrid position based in the Denver metro area, combining the flexibility of remote work with the collaboration and connection of in-office teamwork.

  • As a Senior Tax Associate, your typical day may include:

  • Preparing and reviewing federal and state tax returns for partnerships, S corporations, corporations, and individuals
  • Reviewing workpapers, trial balances, and supporting documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Taking ownership of assigned engagements and driving projects to timely completion
  • Researching tax issues and identifying planning opportunities for clients
  • Collaborating with clients to gather information and resolve tax-related questions
  • Responding to review comments and managing revisions efficiently
  • Supporting tax planning and consulting engagements across a variety of industries
  • Mentoring and developing junior team members through coaching and review of their work
  • Building strong relationships with clients through proactive communication and exceptional service
  • Working closely with managers and partners to deliver high-quality client outcomes

Qualifications:

    We're seeking a self-motivated professional who combines strong technical tax expertise with a sense of ownership and accountability.

    Successful candidates will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 3-5 years of public accounting tax experience
  • Experience preparing and reviewing corporate, S corporation, partnership, and individual tax returns
  • Strong understanding of workpaper preparation, review processes, and engagement management
  • Experience reviewing trial balances and clearing review notes effectively
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements while meeting deadlines and utilization goals
  • Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and CPA firm operations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working directly with clients and building trusted relationships
  • Strong proficiency with tax software and related technology tools
  • CPA or EA designation (preferred, but not required)

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • Recent work experience with an accounting firm
  • 3-5 years of federal tax consulting and/or compliance experience in public accounting
  • Experience preparing Corporate, S-Corp, and/or Partnership tax returns
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer expertise, including knowledge of tax software and technology
  • Licensed CPA or EA
