CommBank’s Institutional Banking & Markets Business (IB&M) is looking for a Senior Associate to join our Global Institutional Banking Coverage (GIBC or Coverage) business. Coverage leads banking relationship management for our IB&M clients, delivering solutions across the financing spectrum to support their strategic objectives.
 

Within GIBC, this role sits within the Specialised Industries team and covers real asset sectors including Infrastructure, Utilities, Digital Infrastructure, Living and Real Estate, supporting our strategy to advance Australia’s economic development.

Working across Coverage and product teams, you’ll help develop deal flow and deliver lending, advisory and capital solutions, while broadening client engagement through transaction banking and working capital services.
 

Key tasks will include but not be limited to:

  • Support Bankers to manage client relationships, complex transactions, operational requirements and day-to-day client needs across the client lifecycle.
  • Work as part of a Deal Team to support transaction documentation, execution, settlement and ongoing facility management.
  • Prepare annual credit reviews and provide analytical support for credit applications, working closely with product partners, Credit Risk and other stakeholders.
  • Support KYC onboarding and periodic reviews for clients, coordinating with customers and internal teams to ensure requirements are met.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, including breach management, various reporting requirements, and liaise with Credit Risk where required.
  • Maintain accurate client, credit and transaction data across systems.
  • Identify and deliver continuous improvement opportunities across the team and broader stakeholder groups.
  • Contribute to business projects and initiatives in partnership with teams across Coverage, Transaction Banking Solutions, Chief Operating Office, Risk and Control Advisory and Delivery.
  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct and uphold the standards expected of all CommBank employees.
     

We’re interested in hearing from people who will bring:

  • Aptitude in financial and risk analysis and strong financial modelling skills.
  • Experience in institutional / corporate banking, credit risk, leveraged finance, structured finance or corporate finance would be highly regarded.
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration and negotiation skills and ability to build a strong rapport with clients and colleagues.
  • Well-developed research and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills - able to communicate clearly and succinctly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Capacity to work in what could at times be a high-pressure environment requiring tight timeframes.
  • Familiarity across product capabilities including corporate finance, debt capital markets, global markets and risk management, cash management and payments.
  • Working legal knowledge with ability to process complex legal documentation would be highly regarded.
