The Opportunity

A highly regarded, independent Australian law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Associate or Special Counsel to join its established Employment & Workplace Relations team in Sydney.


This is a standout opportunity to work alongside respected practitioners on complex, high-value matters for a diverse client base, including corporates, funds, and high-growth businesses. The role offers a strong mix of advisory and contentious work, with exposure to strategic, business-critical issues.


The Team

You’ll be joining a collaborative and well-regarded employment practice that advises across the full spectrum of workplace relations, including:

  • Employment and industrial relations advice
  • Workplace investigations and disputes
  • Discrimination, harassment and regulatory matters
  • Enterprise bargaining and industrial issues
  • Restructures, redundancies and outsourcing
  • Executive and incentive arrangements


The team also partners closely with corporate and private capital clients on sensitive workforce and executive matters.


The Role

In this role, you will:

  • Provide strategic, commercially focused employment advice
  • Work closely with clients on complex and often high-profile matters
  • Draft and advise on employment contracts, policies and frameworks
  • Support dispute resolution and litigation matters
  • Stay across evolving employment legislation and regulatory developments


You’ll play a key role in client relationships while mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to a high-performing team environment.


About You

You are a confident and commercially minded employment lawyer who brings:

  • 5+ years’ PQE in employment/workplace relations (private practice)
  • Strong technical skills with a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • A collaborative mindset and positive, team-oriented attitude
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under pressure
