Senior Associate, Material Tech & Cyber Change - Enterprise Services Risk
The Enterprise Services Risk organization is expanding with a focus on attracting innovative, pioneering, collaborative, and highly skilled professionals. As a Senior Associate on the Material Technology and Cyber Change (MTC) team, you will be part of a first-line risk management function that assesses technology and cybersecurity risks associated with the company's material technology changes. Our team manages the end-to-end MTC lifecycle, which includes identifying in-scope initiatives, facilitating Targeted Risk Assessments (TRAs), and monitoring mitigation plans to enable secure and well-managed innovation across the enterprise. You will be responsible for conducting TRAs for a portfolio of technology initiatives, partnering with business and technology stakeholders to perform in-depth analysis. Based on the analysis, you will also help to develop comprehensive risk mitigation plans and present the final assessment results to leadership for review.
In this role, you will:
  • Analyze architecture to understand technology changes and confirm TRA scope.
  • Perform holistic cyber threat analysis to identify possible threat scenarios.
  • Identify potential cyber risks and assign inherent risk ratings based on likelihood and severity.
  • Evaluate the design effectiveness of existing security measures and controls that mitigate identified risks.
  • Determine residual risk levels based on the effectiveness of existing risk mitigations.
  • Develop risk response strategies and create mitigation plans in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Document and present TRA results, recommendations, and response plans to senior leadership.
  • Participate in and carry out other special projects and methodology improvements for the team periodically.

Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent Certification.
  • At least 2 years of experience in Risk Management, Process Management, Project Management, or a combination of these
  • At least 1 year of experience in a Cybersecurity or Technology domain

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology Systems , Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field , or Military Experience.
  • Risk Certifications (CRISC, CISM, CRCM, CIPP, ABA Risk Mgmt Certification).
  • Strong understanding of core technology domains, including IT infrastructure, cloud service models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), application architecture, and cybersecurity concepts
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex technical risks into clear business terms for non-technical stakeholders and senior leadership

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $109,000 - $124,400 for Sr. Assoc, Cyber Risk & Analysis
Richmond, VA: $99,100 - $113,100 for Sr. Assoc, Cyber Risk & Analysis
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
