Key Responsibilities
- Be able to provide quality technical advice and guidance to clients
- Be able to work independently and as part of the wider team and manage files with minimal input from Partners or other senior fee earners, taking responsibility for day to day matter management, prioritising as required to meet client expectations
- Be established and recognised by others in an area of expertise and act as a significant point of contact for clients and colleagues
- Ensure you and your team members record and bill their time in accordance with policies and procedures
- Ensure clients are fully informed as to the fees and disbursements that will be incurred on each matter and provide regular updates as required
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of, and be able to generate repeat business from, existing clients
- Be accountable for the coaching and development of junior members of staff, including the supervision of Associates, Trainees and Paralegals when required
- Identify and pursue business development opportunities, including opportunities for cross referrals
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Qualified lawyer with typically 4+ years PQE for a Senior Associate role and typically more for a Managing Associate, with a strong academic background
- Experience from a relevant law firm environment, demonstrating good, consistent performance over recent years (prior Jersey experience preferred but not essential)
- Excellent drafting and written communication skills
- Develop and demonstrate the highest standards of professional knowledge and ability
- Proactively contribute to the development of know-how, including precedents, practice notes and publications
- Demonstrate sound financial management skills and an understanding of your role in assisting the firm's lock up exposure
- Demonstrate an ability to establish, build and maintain strong relationships with clients, intermediaries and colleagues
- Prepare for and attend business development meetings
- Prepare and present training seminars internally and externally
- Promote team work and strong relationships with immediate team members, other teams across jurisdictions and Business Services to achieve personal, team and group objectives
