Overview

PIMCO is seeking a Senior Associate to join the Legal U.S. Regulatory team within the Legal and Compliance Department. This role is well suited for a legal, compliance, regulatory, or financial services professional who enjoys working across multiple disciplines, including investment adviser regulation, institutional client contracting, regulatory filings, corporate governance, and strategic legal initiatives.

The Senior Associate will support a broad range of legal and regulatory matters for PIMCO’s global asset management business, partnering closely with attorneys, Compliance, Client Management, Operations, and other business stakeholders. The role offers exposure to complex regulatory issues, client agreements, regulatory change management, and opportunities to help enhance legal workflows through process improvement, data management, automation, and AI-assisted tools.

This role provides an opportunity to develop subject matter expertise across a broad range of legal and regulatory matters while contributing to initiatives that enhance legal processes and support PIMCO's global business.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Legal managed service team responsible for the day-to-day administration of institutional client contracting workflows, serving as a subject matter expert and escalation point for complex negotiations, non-standard client requests, and contractual risk assessments. Draft, review, negotiate, interpret, and manage institutional client agreements and related legal documentation, identifying legal and business risks and partnering with stakeholders to develop practical solutions and resolve contractual issues.

  • Support a broad range of legal and regulatory matters relating to U.S. investment adviser and asset management regulations across various regulators and self-regulatory organizations (e.g., SEC, CFTC, NFA, FINRA), including inquiries, examinations, ongoing regulatory obligations, and emerging regulatory requirements.

  • Prepare, review and coordinate U.S. regulatory filings and other regulatory submissions while ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery.

  • Assist counsel with document collection, fact development, and analysis of transaction activity, communications, and regulatory reporting data in support of internal reviews, regulatory responses, document productions, and related matters.

  • Help drive regulatory change management initiatives by monitoring regulatory developments, summarizing requirements, coordinating stakeholder engagement, and supporting implementation across business functions.

  • Coordinate responses to client, consultant, investor, and regulatory due diligence requests relating to legal, regulatory, and governance matters.

  • Partner closely with Compliance, Risk, Operations, Product Strategy, Client Management, and other business stakeholders to support legal and regulatory workstreams and help coordinate practical solutions.

  • Support corporate governance activities, including recordkeeping, insurance renewals, authorized signatory processes, and related governance requirements.

  • Contribute to the modernization of legal processes by identifying opportunities to leverage automation, AI-enabled tools, process optimization, and enhanced data management practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Juris Doctor (J.D.) strongly preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a law firm, asset manager, investment adviser, financial institution, regulatory agency, in-house legal department, compliance function, legal operations team, or contract management function.

  • Experience reviewing, drafting, negotiating, and interpreting client agreements and related legal documentation is required. Experience supporting regulatory filings, examinations, due diligence requests, and/or regulatory change management initiatives within a regulated financial services environment is strongly preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite; must be able to perform intermediate Excel functions (e.g. formulas, vlookups, etc.)

  • Working knowledge of U.S. securities laws and regulations applicable to investment advisers and asset managers, including the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 and related SEC regulatory frameworks.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize competing demands, and independently drive initiatives to completion.

  • High performing individual capable of managing multiple time sensitive and complex tasks in a challenging, fast-paced, and fluid environment.

  • Able to learn and apply emerging technologies, including AI-assisted tools, data analysis, and automation, to create efficiencies and streamline processes where appropriate.

  • Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.

  • Able to take initiative in learning and applying new skills.

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, work well in a team environment, and have the ability to interact comfortably with all levels of management, as well as external contacts.

  • Able to generate solutions and appropriately escalate to management.

PIMCO follows a total compensation approach when rewarding employees which includes a base salary and a discretionary bonus. Base salary is the fixed component of compensation that is determined by core job responsibilities, relevant experience, internal level, and market factors. The discretionary bonus is used to award performance and therefore is determined by company, business, team, and individual performance.


Salary Range: $ 100,000.00 - $ 112,500.00
