Job DescriptionWe are seeking an analytical professional to join our Global Payment Services (GPS) team as a Senior Associate in our operations group. Global Payment Services (GPS) is responsible for the accurate, timely, and secure processing of all payments across MUFG Investor Services, with teams located in Kuala Lumpur, Limassol, Dublin, Halifax, and Toronto that collaboratively manage the end to end payment lifecycle on a global scale.
The Senior Associate plays an important role in executing daily payment processing activities while maintaining strong control standards, supporting operational stability, and contributing to ongoing improvements. This role is responsible for resolving payment exceptions, liaising with stakeholders, and supporting enhancements that strengthen the GPS operating model across regions.
- Accurately input, approve, and process payments in accordance with procedures, control requirements, and documentation standards.
- Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies and errors, conducting basic root cause analysis and applying sound judgment.
- Liaise with clients, investment managers, and internal teams to ensure timely and accurate payment execution.
- Adhere to key control expectations including maker checker, LOA, callback verification, and proper recordkeeping.
- Analyze payment and inquiry data to identify recurring issues and operational trends.
- Escalate critical issues or exceptions promptly to senior team members or leadership.
- Collaborate with Treasury, Banking Operations, Client Operations, Technology, and other internal partners to ensure operational requirements are met.
- Provide timely, accurate updates to stakeholders, ensuring clear communication during handovers and across regions.
- Represent the local team on select initiatives or working groups, contributing insights from day to day operations.
- Ensure strict adherence to operational controls, documentation requirements, and regulatory expectations.
- Support the identification of control gaps and assist in remediation efforts.
- Maintain awareness of operational risks and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Identify opportunities to enhance process efficiency, accuracy, and control strength within payment operations.
- Support development, testing, and implementation of system enhancements, workflow changes, and automation initiatives.
- Maintain current procedures, checklists, and documentation in alignment with firm standards.
- Stay informed of evolving market practices, regulatory updates, and industry trends related to payment processing.
- Assist in identifying and reducing operational friction points by providing practical recommendations.
- Support internal and external audit requests, compliance reviews, and related deliverables.
- Contribute to broader GPS initiatives and special projects that enhance the global payments operating model.
- Strong understanding of global payment processes, including settlement flows and banking connectivity.
- Knowledge of SWIFT payment formatting and field definitions; MX experience is an advantage.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Postsecondary education in finance, accounting, business, or a related field.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify meaningful insights.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to manage stakeholder expectations effectively.
- Experience supporting process improvements or operational initiatives is an asset.
- Working knowledge of the fund administration industry is advantageous.
