Purpose and Job Summary:
The Associate will be an integral part of the Corporate Development team. The primary mandate of the team is to partner with business leaders across the organization to evaluate and execute new business opportunities that support the long-term growth strategy of the firm, including supporting the incubation of new business lines, participating in the evaluation of strategic investments and partnerships, and execution of M&A opportunities as they pertain to the talent, assets, and/or corporate entities. The Associate is expected to work closely with Finance and FP&A to prepare analyses, financial models, investment memorandum, and presentation materials in support of corporate development efforts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and execute new business opportunities, including incubation of new products and services, strategic investments, and corporate acquisitions in the commercial real estate industry.
- Conduct market research to identify potential new acquisitions.
- Build financial valuation models and analysis of investment returns, including those are related to the acquisition of production talent.
- Prepare investment memorandum and other supporting materials to communicate investment and capital allocation rationale to internal stakeholders.
- Support corporate finance and investor relations efforts as it relates to the management of Lument Finance Trust (“LFT”), our publicly traded commercial mortgage REIT: Prepare and maintain quarterly presentation materials, including performance updates, portfolio analytics, and other ad hoc materials for the management team and independent board of directors.
- Collaborate with Accounting to produce quarterly earnings supplemental presentations for LFT’s public stakeholders.
- Provide management team with other analytical support and investor relations efforts as needed.
- Maintain industry and competitor surveillance related to Lument’s competitive positioning.
- Coordinate across functional groups to analyze internal data and assist with operational, strategic, and other analytical projects.

Education, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field
- 2-5 years relevant work experience in the CRE finance, investment management, or commercial banking industries
- Working knowledge of GAAP financial statements and an ability to build forecast models in Excel
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Powerpoint, Word, etc.)
- Interest in commercial real estate finance and investment management
- Creative and effective problem-solving skills, excellent organizational and analytical skills
- The ability to work well under pressure, adjust to varied workloads and handle multiple priorities, with a sense of urgency
- This position requires access to sensitive and confidential information. It is expected that this information remain both internally and external to the company as applicable. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality and to use discretion in the performance of daily activities
- Excellent organizational, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize assignments, and to meet critical and established deadlines; Ability to manage multiple assignments ant transactions simultaneously
- Ability to learn quickly and demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a lean, high-performance team
Annual base salary gross: $110,000 - 135,000(NY only) with the potential to earn incentives based on production. The base salary range represents the estimated low and high end of ORIX’s salary for this position based on geography. Actual base salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. The base pay is one component of ORIX’s total compensation package for employees.
