Job Summary

This role sits within Fido's corporate finance and strategy function, supporting key initiatives that drive business growth and long-term value creation. It focuses on turning financial and market data into actionable insights, supporting major transactions and funding activities, and working across teams to inform strategic decisions.

We are looking for someone who takes initiative, works independently, and holds themselves to a high standard of accuracy. This is not a role for someone who waits to be directed, you will own workstreams end-to-end and be expected to deliver polished, well-reasoned output with minimal supervision.

What you will do:

Debt Raising & Capital Markets

  • Prepare lender and investor pitch materials and detailed financial projections.
  • Conduct analysis on debt capacity, interest coverage, and leverage ratios.
  • Liaise with lenders, rating agencies, and financial institutions to support the debt-raising process.

M&A & Transaction Support

  • Build financial models, run valuation analyses, and develop scenario plans to support M&A initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external advisors (investment banks, consultants, legal counsel) to facilitate deal execution.
  • Own end-to-end workstreams within transactions, proactively identifying blockers and resolving them without waiting to be asked.

Due Diligence

  • Conduct due diligence on target companies across financial, operational, and legal dimensions.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and third-party consultants to ensure thorough, timely diligence.
  • Identify and clearly articulate risks, opportunities, and synergies in written and verbal form, with precision and attention to detail.

Market Expansion & Business Strategy

  • Develop and pressure-test business cases for new market entry, including sizing opportunities, assessing regulatory and competitive landscapes, and modelling financial returns.
  • Support the development of Fido's multi-year strategic plan, synthesising market intelligence, internal performance data, and macroeconomic trends into clear strategic recommendations.
  • Identify and evaluate partnership, distribution, and growth opportunities across existing and new geographies.
  • Work with leadership to define go-to-market approaches for new products or markets, translating strategy into actionable plans with clear milestones.

Strategy & Market Intelligence

  • Provide competitor analysis, benchmarking, and industry insights to inform strategic decisions.
  • Monitor industry developments, regulatory changes, and macroeconomic factors affecting the business.
  • Surface insights proactively, not just when asked.

Investor Relations Support

  • Prepare materials for investor presentations and shareholder updates.
  • Assist in maintaining relationships with investors, analysts, and rating agencies.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with finance, strategy, legal, and operations on cross-functional projects.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently with senior stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in investment banking, corporate finance, private equity, or management consulting.
  • Experience in Big 4, banking, or a corporate development function is a strong advantage.
  • Strong understanding of M&A processes, debt instruments, and due diligence frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop or contribute to business strategy, market entry analysis, business case development, or strategic planning experience preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; comfortable building models from scratch.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience engaging senior stakeholders.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

How You Work:

  • You take initiative: Identify what needs to be done and do it, without waiting to be asked.
  • You work independently: Manage your own time and workstreams, escalating when genuinely necessary.
  • You have exceptional attention to detail: Errors in financial models, presentations, or written materials are not acceptable to you.
  • You are a confident communicator: Present analysis clearly and defend your reasoning to senior stakeholders.
  • You operate well under pressure and can manage multiple workstreams against tight deadlines.

What We Offer:

  • Exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-growing fintech company reshaping financial access in Africa.
  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package.
  • Exposure to innovative tools and cutting-edge technology.
  • Collaborative and creative work environment.
  • Real opportunities for career growth and professional development.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in investment banking, corporate finance, private equity, or management consulting.
  • Experience in Big 4, banking, or a corporate development function.
  • Strong understanding of M&A processes, debt instruments, and due diligence frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience in business strategy, market entry analysis, business case development, or strategic planning.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint; comfortable building financial models from scratch.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with experience engaging senior stakeholders.
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken.
