Senior Associate / Assistant Manager, Strategic Initiatives (Founder's Office)

The Short version

Who we're looking for: A sharp, high-intensity problem solver with 3 to 6 years of experience, who cares deeply about education and is happiest when handed a messy problem with no playbook.

What the role is about: You'll work directly with our CEO on the strategic priorities that will shape Kraftshala's next phase of growth, across admissions, training, placements, tech, partnerships, and scale, and you'll own each one from start to finish.

Why you should apply: You'll work on some of the hardest and most critical problems in the company, alongside people with extraordinary expertise in skilling and training. There's a lot to learn here, and plenty of room to grow.

About Us: Kraftshala is India’s largest skilling institution in terms of marketing placements, with a 94% placement rate, and we are gunning to become the world’s largest career launchpad, across domains.

We’re backed by a number of eminent investors including ex-unicorn startup founders and CXOs of global giants like RedBus, NoBroker, Nestlé, and Performics.

The Detailed Version

Our goal is simple: drive placements. That takes stellar admissions, training and placement processes, strong technology and deep partnerships across the ecosystem, and keeping all of it stellar as our programs grow. This role exists to solve the cross-functional problems that get in the way of that, working alongside the founder as priorities shift.

Responsibilities & Metrics to Measure:
  • Take ambiguous, high-priority problems from the founder, break them down, find root causes using data, and turn them into a clear plan with owners and timelines.
  • Spot where our programs risk slipping into mediocrity as they scale, across learner outcomes, placement quality and delivery standards, and fix the gaps at a system level.
  • Run small, quick experiments on problem areas as they come up, share what worked and what didn't, and change course when the data or priorities shift.
  • Act as the founder's thinking partner through sharp analyses, decision memos and reviews, and turn solved problems into repeatable processes that teams can run on their own.

Top Grading
  • Proactiveness: An A-Player spots the next problem before being told and moves on it, whereas a B-Player waits for direction and does well only once the task is clearly defined.
  • Intensity & Focus: An A-Player attacks the most important problem with urgency until it's solved, whereas a B-Player spreads effort thin and lets momentum fade after the first push.
  • Structuring Ambiguity: An A-Player turns a vague, messy problem into a clear problem statement, hypothesis and plan, whereas a B-Player either waits for clarity or jumps into action without a frame.
  • Iterative Learning: An A-Player tests fast, learns from what didn't work and changes course without ego, whereas a B-Player sticks to the original plan even when the data says otherwise.
  • Cross-functional Influence: An A-Player gets teams they don't manage to move by building trust and making a clear case, whereas a B-Player leans on the founder's name to get things done.
  • Adaptability: An A-Player shifts gears calmly when priorities change and carries the learnings forward, whereas a B-Player treats every change as a disruption and loses pace.
  • Passion for Education: An A-Player believes in the cause of education and finds ways to drive change, whether through learner outcomes, access to opportunity, better systems or shifting mindsets, whereas a B-Player sees education as just another sector to work in.

Ideal Candidate
  • You have 3 to 6 years of experience solving real problems end-to-end. You might come from consulting, strategy, a founder's office or business operations, or from any role where you've had to work through varied, unstructured problems with no fixed playbook.
  • A clear, genuine interest in education is a must. Prior exposure to the sector, whether through edtech, skilling or teaching, is a strong plus.
  • You've taken an ambiguous problem, given it structure, and delivered a measurable result, ideally while working across teams you didn't directly manage.
  • You're looking to build deep context and grow with us over the long term, not a short stint.
