Crozier Fine Arts is seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Art Handling Specialist to join our Operations/Logistics team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and integrity of art collections through expert handling, packing, crating, and transportation, while providing leadership and acting as a primary liaison between clients and company management on project sites.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
In this role, you will:
Lead, guide, and coach a team of 3-5 Art Handlers for successful completion during on-site projects, with the key output of efficient and damage-free execution of all project phases.
Collaborate directly with clients and company management by acting as the primary onsite liaison and determining the strategy for complex projects when senior staff are not present.
Ensure compliance with the highest standards by expertly handling, moving, wrapping, packing, and crating art objects, decorative arts, and furniture using Crozier’s appropriate techniques and materials.
Lead a project team, providing guidance and coaching during loading, unloading, and installation projects.
Plan, organize, and load/unload trucks to ensure the utmost safety of objects during transit.
Install/uninstall art for onsite projects and accurately conduct and document inspection reports.
Dedicate a minimal amount of time (approximately 5%) to laptop/desktop computer or telephone to manage project communication and logistics.
What You’ll Bring (Skills & Qualifications)
The ideal candidate will have:
2-4+ years of prior experience in Art handling within a gallery, museum, or commercial fine art space, including fine art transportation.
Strong knowledge of industry standard techniques and materials for packing, crating, installing, and uninstalling artwork.
Proven ability in effective communication, follow-through, attention to detail, and maintaining discretion on all projects.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to regional locations for onsite work.
Physical Requirement: Willing and able to lift, move, push, and pull heavy objects (in excess of 75 lbs), bend, kneel, crouch, and stand, as well as being willing to work flexible hours based on project needs.
Ability to safely operate 26-ft box truck, at minimum
Valid driver’s license with clean/clear driving record with ability to pass all driving check (**CDL license not required but preferred)
