Your work environment at EXP

In this role, you will be a part of the Pharmaceutical, Manufacturing, and Semiconductor Science & Technology Buildings team, based in Chicago, IL.

 

What a day at EXP has in store for you

  • Extensive deep experience with building codes, H occupancy facility, International Fire Code, NFPA, and Life Safety Codes
  • Chemical Hazard classification, Maximum Allowable Quantity (MAO) expertise, Class I, Division I and II and zone area studies. Elements associated with critical manufacturing facilities and large quantity of solid and liquid chemicals.   
  • Lead and coordinate the technical development of projects working under Project Managers and Principals from Conceptual Design through Construction Documents and Construction Phase.  
  • Ability to coordinate with a multi-discipline team of architects and engineers, both in-house staff and outside subconsultants, ensuring the project is detailed and executed to maintain the design concept with technical astuteness and within the project budget.
  • Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Develop presentation documents and participate in presentations to clients
  • Develop design concepts under the leadership of the Principal Designer
  • Extensive experience in manufacturing or life science facilities
  • Familiar with Food and Drug Administration guidelines for the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals and Pharmacopeia best practices  
  • Extensive experience with chemical analysis, classification and inventory
  • Extensive experience with Industrial and Hazardous building classifications
  • Extensive experience with equipment planning, ergonomics, and safety
  • Extensive experience in laboratory building environment   
  • This individual will be responsible for managing the design, production and coordination of projects from our Chicago, IL office for projects nationwide
  • The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be a dynamic presenter, and be able to effectively manage diverse groups of clients, project stakeholders, and team members
  • Experience working with international clients, equipment suppliers, and consultants with global teams of varying language
  • Comfortable working in metric and imperial units in the development of construction document  
  • Participation in business development through market research, meeting with clients, assisting with marketing proposals, and participating in selection interviews is also a necessity to succeed in this role

 

What your experience looks like

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in architecture from an accredited University
  • Must have Architectural License
  • Experience within life sciences, industrial, Laboratories and healthcare preferred 
  • 10+ years of experience required


The salary range for this role is $120,000 to $150,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's skill set, experience, certifications, and geographic location. Compensation may vary by location due to differences in the cost of labor.
