Job Qualifications:

• 8+ years of software development experience. Must be familiar with development and understand the challenges of building and maintaining complex systems.

• 5+ years of experience in Solutions or Enterprise Architecture, preferred

• 5+ years e-commerce expertise, passionate about online commerce and have a deep understanding of relevant technologies (e.g., e-commerce platforms, payment gateways, CRM systems), preferred

• 5+ years in-store and online payments, understanding how we optimize our payments flows to drive amazing interactions, preferred

•  Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, or C#.

• Proficiency with data solutions and integration patterns like lakehouse and iPaaS

•  Mobile first mentality, with a keenness to learn and work with mobile and understand the unique challenges and opportunities of mobile app development.

• Experience with loyalty programs, including points systems, rewards, and customer segmentation.

• Ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear and concise way to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic and a passion for delivering results.

• This position requires driving, when necessary

Location Requirement:

This role is located in the Greater Phoenix area. This position is required to be in office 4 days per week (Mon-Thurs); Fridays are optional remote work days

Key Result Areas (KRAs):

Architecture Design & Solution Development:

• Lead the creation and maintenance of architectural artifacts, including conceptual, logical, and physical architectures, using tools like UML, ArchiMate, or ARDOQ to ensure alignment with Dutch Bros’ business strategies.  

• Design and implement scalable, resilient solutions for e-commerce, mobile apps, and payment systems, integrating them seamlessly with existing infrastructure and business processes.  

Technology Strategy, Roadmap & Innovation:

• Collaborate with business leaders and technology teams to translate strategic objectives into actionable technology roadmaps, identifying opportunities for growth and market differentiation.  

• Drive innovation by evaluating emerging technologies and their potential to create competitive advantages for Dutch Bros.  

Leadership, Mentorship & Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Provide technical leadership to teams, mentoring junior architects and developers, ensuring adherence to architectural best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous learning.  

• Collaborate with crossfunctional teams, including business stakeholders, product managers, developers, and operations, to align technology solutions with business goals and ensure smooth project execution.

Communication, Risk Management & Security:

• Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executive leadership.  

• Identify, assess, and mitigate architectural risks, particularly in system stability, security, and scalability. Ensure all digital systems adhere to security best practices, safeguarding customer data and payment processes.

• Engage in strategic decision-making, ensuring that technology initiatives align with long-term business objectives and drive measurable value.  

• Communicate architectural strategies effectively to executive leadership, and manage relationships with technology vendors to ensure external solutions meet business needs.

API Design, Cloud Strategy & Integration:  

• Lead the design and integration of APIs, driving an API-first architecture to enhance system flexibility and integration with e-commerce, mobile, and internal platforms.  

• Guide Dutch Bros’ cloud strategy, leveraging platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCP to optimize scalability and drive efficiency through cloud-native architectures and microservices.

E-Commerce, Mobile, Payment Systems & Personalization:

• Oversee the architecture of e-commerce platforms (e.g., Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Magento) and mobile development (iOS, Android), ensuring a seamless, high-quality customer experience across all channels.  

• Guide the architecture of payment gateway integrations, ensuring PCI DSS compliance and optimizing payment processes.  

• Drive personalization strategies to enhance customer interactions, collaborating with marketing and product teams to tailor digital experiences to customer preferences and business goals.

Data Architecture & Retail Systems Integration:

• Design the architecture, enabling data-driven decision-making and personalized customer experiences.  

• Apply expertise in retail and restaurant systems, such as POS, inventory management, and CRM, to ensure smooth integration with digital platforms and optimize operational efficiencies across channels.

Physical Requirements:

• In-Office Environment: Must be able to work in a busy, crowded, and loud office with frequent distractions and interruptions

  • Must be able to collaborate in-person with occasional impromptu in-person meetings 

• Office Conditions: Adaptability to typical office conditions, which may include exposure to air conditioning, heating, artificial lighting, and varying noise levels

• Mobility: Ability to sit, stand, reach, twist, stretch, and work at a desk for long stretches.  Must be able to occasionally move or lift office items up to 25 pounds

• Hearing Requirements: Hearing must be sufficient or correctable to ensure clear understanding of spoken information, including participating in virtual meetings and phone calls. Use of hearing aids or other assistive devices is acceptable if needed.

• Reading and Writing Proficiency: Ability to read and write in English is essential for processing documents, drafting reports, and following up on necessary actions. Proficiency in written communication is required to handle job-related tasks effectively.

• Vision Requirements: Vision must be adequate or correctable to perform essential job duties, such as reading documents on a computer screen and using other visual tools. Use of corrective lenses or other measures to meet visual requirements is expected if needed.

• Technology Proficiency: Must be proficient in operating a computer and other office productivity tools such as printers, scanners, and collaboration software. 

• Effective Communication: Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members, clients, and other stakeholders via email, video conferencing, and other in office communication tools.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position begins at $149,000 per year and may increase depending on experience.
