The Senior Data Architect is responsible for optimizing the value delivered by our Data Architecture team which turns data into information, information into insight, and insight into business decisions.
A Day in the Life

Perform Data Architecture support for projects and enhancements.

Craft and execute data management, architecture, integration, and governance strategies

Provide technical leadership for architecture, design, documentation, and maintenance of databases and related systems; creates database storage structures, resolves database issues, and maintains system security

Support development and implementation of business applications that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality
-
Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
-
Review and approval of daily operational changes where required
-
Monitor daily operations of data loads and identify data discrepancies, data quality issues, and work to ensure data consistency and integrity

Participate in project and enhancement estimation exercises and project team meetings
-
Provide required input, status on tasks, identification of risks and corresponding mitigations as well as issue management

Collaborate with business partners to transform business requirements into environment specific ETL, reporting, and data validation designs; work closely with management to prioritize business and information needs

Design relational databases to support business enterprise applications and physical data modeling according to project requirements for data acquisition and security

Collaborate with internal and external personnel, including system architects, software developers, database administrators, design analysts and information modeling experts to determine project requirements and capabilities, and strategize development and implementation timelines

Review changes to databases to ensure no performance or functionality impacts

Develop architectural strategies for data modeling, design, and implementation to meet stated requirements for metadata management, operational data stores and Extract Transform Load environments

Collaborate with the Application Development team to analyze, identify, design, and implement processes for sourcing new data

Generate DDL scripts from data modelling tool and to ensure the script’s proper function

Create and test physical data models for a variety of business data, applications, database structures and metadata tables to meet operational goals for performance and efficiency

Support database administrators, network designers and IT personnel to create effective and secure methods for data safeguarding

Review existing data architectures to determine overall effectiveness and compliance with original objectives, develop comprehensive strategies for improving or replacing underperforming areas and present these plans to managers and executives

Research new technologies, data modeling methods and information management systems to determine which ones should be incorporated into company data architectures, and develop implementation timelines and milestones
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in data architecture, information management or similar field
-
At least five years of DBA/data development and data architecture experience (combined)

Proficient with PostgreSQL, Talend ETL, and Snowflake
-
Proficient in the use of data modeling tools, and producing/maintaining logical and physical designs
-
Strong ETL development knowledge (SSIS, ADF (Azure Data Factory), Boomi or equivalent) and data warehouse architecture techniques

Experience optimizing, loading, and processing large datasets from different data sources and formats

Adept at query development, report writing, and presenting findings

Ability to balance creativity with pragmatism, concepts with practical applications, agility with control
-
PostgreSQL/Snowpro (for Snowflake) certifications preferred
The hiring base salary range for this position is $99,200 - $136,400 annually. Actual compensation within this range will be dependent upon the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data.
