We are ambitious and committed to be leading Ad-Tech in the fashion domain for our customers and partners; therefore we are scaling our Applied Science backbone for Ads recommendation and personalization working backwards from user, content and context understanding.
As a Senior Applied Scientist in Zalando Marketing Services, you will play a key role in developing and delivering effective and scientifically-sound solutions to our main business problems: real-time recommendation for our Sponsored Product and Campaign advertisements. Open-research problems play an important role, at the intersection of Recsys, Machine/Reinforcement Learning, Causal inference, giving opportunities for scientific contributions.
We are looking for someone who can lead the research part of AI heavy projects end-to-end and guide more junior colleagues into delivering impact from science-based systems. You will support the team working in a structured and transparent way and achieve results that we can all proudly celebrate. WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)You’ll work with various stakeholders to understand business context, and contribute to developing/customising a relevant and scalable solution and support with implementation
Develop long-term scientific roadmaps to address complex problems in Ad recommendation such as customer behaviour modeling, Multi-objective modeling etc.
You’ll work on various AI heavy problems that needs to design and implement machine learning approaches support the implementation of a solution and measure it against success criteria (e.g. customer feedback)
Utilize your extensive scientific experience in researching, deploying, and architecting machine learning and deep learning solutions to enhance Zalando’s advertisement offering
Collaborate with Business Owners, Product Managers and Engineers to define the vision and the roadmap for content optimization on Zalando
Contribute in defining and executing roadmaps, in a way that balances research and delivery in our product landscape
Foster an inclusive culture and diverse team environment
PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics or MSc with proven publications track in top tier conferences such as SIGIR, KDD, Recsys, ICLR, NeurIPS, ICML, JMLR,
At least 3 years of industry or industry related research experience in Machine Learning/Data Science/Deep Learning.
Extensive hands-on experience in deep learning with proficiency in Python and frameworks like PyTorch
Experience in project leadership and mentoring more junior colleagues under uncertainty and ambiguity
Proficient in explaining details, benefits and impact of the projects to diverse audiences
Experience in Advertising/Ecommerce and background in Economics are considered a plus
