About the role
As a Senior Application Engineer in the Enterprise Engineering team, you will be instrumental in accelerating our pace and efficiency by designing and building solutions that create extensible and scalable platforms & services used across Zillow. You will lay the groundwork for some of our most crucial automation systems that empower your colleagues to excel and enable Zillow to scale.

As a Senior Applications Engineer, you will:

Authoring effective architectures and delivering critical bodies of code that contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of employee-centric technical solutions in Workday, Gen AI Agents, Enterprise Search, and other SaaS products.

Influencing and shaping the enterprise technology roadmap, architecture, and design standards, working closely with other Seniors to design, adapt, and grow your architecture to respond to changing business needs.

Cultivating a sophisticated network of third-party tools into a unified, mature, and scalable platform, optimizing code for better scalability, performance, and readability.

Continuously enhancing system performance and reliability, diagnosing and resolving unforeseen operational events, and ensuring they don't happen again.

Collaborating with system analysts and other engineering teams to build and test comprehensive solutions.

Ensuring that your team’s work is rigorously tested using repeatable, automated patterns.

Operating within an Agile/Scrum framework, coordinating closely with Product & Engineering teams to deliver value across multiple services or key components.

Participating in a team on-call rotation to troubleshoot and resolve the most difficult and critical issues with our tools.

Own the enterprise technology roadmap and design standards, collaborate with senior team members, and adjust your architectural strategies to meet evolving business requirements.
This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.
In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $158,200.00 - $252,800.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.
In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.
Who you are

Proven experience designing, developing, and integrating SaaS applications across Enterprise technology infrastructure.

You are familiar with enterprise systems like Workday, ServiceNow, Active Directory, Gen AI agents, etc.

You are deeply familiar with SQL, REST/SOAP, Graph API, Workday Studio, Workday Orchestration, Mulesoft

You have experience in one or more languages (e.g., JavaScript, Python), with the interest and aim to learn additional tools and technologies.

You have experience designing, building, and deploying scalable end-user applications, preferably in AWS, optimizing code for better scalability, performance, and readability.

You exhibit a strong sense of ownership, consistently and effectively communicating with both technical and non-technical staff.

Your experience spans the entire software development lifecycle, including alignment to coding standards, conducting code reviews, leading source control, supervising build processes, and operational experience.

You proactively engage in identifying and proposing initiatives aimed at enhancing the performance and efficiency of existing systems, setting the standard for dashboards, metrics, alarms, and run books.
