Join a high-impact team responsible for the reliability and performance of hummgroup’s Cards and BNPL platforms. As a Senior Application Support Engineer in this 12-month max-term opportunity, you'll be at the heart of keeping critical customer-facing and financial systems running smoothly - leading complex incident resolution, driving system resilience, and partnering closely with engineering and product teams to deliver continuous operational improvements. If you thrive on solving challenging technical problems, coordinating major incidents, and making a tangible impact in a fast-paced fintech environment, this role offers the opportunity to do just that.

What Does An Average Day Look Like?

No day is average at humm but here’s an idea of what you can expect to do in this role:

  • Act as the senior technical escalation point for complex production incidents, leading major incident coordination and stakeholder communications when required.
  • Investigate and resolve application, integration, and system issues across distributed platforms using log analysis, SQL, and troubleshooting tools.
  • Support critical production operations, including batch processing, transaction validation, reconciliations, and controlled remediation activities.
  • Monitor platform health and performance, leveraging observability tools to identify risks, improve monitoring coverage, and drive proactive issue resolution.
  • Partner with Engineering, Infrastructure, Product, and vendor teams to strengthen platform reliability, resolve root causes, and reduce recurring incidents.
  • Drive continuous improvement through automation, process optimisation, knowledge sharing, and mentoring team members to uplift operational maturity.

You'll bring:

  • Significant experience in Application Support, Production Support, SRE, or a similar role within a complex enterprise environment.
  • Proven expertise in major incident management, root cause analysis, and driving permanent resolution of production issues.
  • Strong technical skills across SQL, Linux/Unix, scripting (Python, Bash, or PowerShell), cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), and observability tools.
  • Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, automation, and improving operational processes and system resilience.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage confidently across technical and business teams.
  • Financial services, payments, or fintech experience, together with exposure to modern cloud-native architectures, containers, and Infrastructure as Code, will be highly regarded.

Skills Required

  • Significant experience in Application Support, Production Support, or SRE in a complex enterprise environment.
