The Technology and Delivery team ensures the sustained health and maintenance of UniSuper’s core systems and platforms - to provide high availability, stability and performance. We remain committed to partner with business units to provide business driven scale and simplification, guidance and delivery of the Enterprise Portfolio and technologies required to enable business capabilities and support the execution of UniSuper’s Strategy.
Make an impact by delivering robust, secure application solutions and improving the platforms that support UniSuper’s business needs.
The role
As a Senior Application Developer - Integration, you will deliver robust, secure application solutions aligned to business needs, technical standards and practices. You’ll work across the development lifecycle, applying your technical expertise to deliver change into relevant applications and platforms. Furthermore, you will:
Deliver technical solutions with a strong focus on security, reusability, performance and ongoing supportability.
Partner with project teams, architects and business stakeholders to translate functional and non-functional requirements into detailed technical solutions.
Deliver solutions using iPaaS (Azure), C#, .NET Core and SQL, including unit testing. Improve application delivery by designing, building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, tools and scripts across the SDLC.
Deliver root cause analysis of incidents and problems, working across business and technology teams.
Support code quality and development standards through pull request reviews and feedback to peers.
Work closely with Technical Leads to understand the technical direction, standards and priorities, and apply their guidance consistently in day-to-day delivery.
Contribute to architecture and design discussions led by Technical Leads, offering practical input from hands-on development experience and helping shape secure, scalable and supportable solutions.
Proactively identify security vulnerabilities, design gaps and operational risks and raise them early with Technical Leads, along with clear, well-reasoned recommendations and options.
Keep Technical Leads informed of progress, risks, dependencies and blockers and escalate issues promptly rather than waiting for them to become incidents.
Collaborate effectively within the team and across projects and share knowledge and support peers, including more junior developers and external resources, in line with the practices set by Technical Leads.
Take ownership of agreed technical outcomes and work with Technical Leads to resolve complex problems, including during incidents and urgent deployments.
About you
You’re an experienced application developer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and delivering quality cloud-based solutions. You bring a pragmatic, logical approach to decision making, with a strong focus on outcomes and value. In addition, you will bring:
At least five years’ application development or support experience, with relevant application development qualifications.
Experience designing, developing, unit testing, securing and releasing modern cloud-based application solutions.
Experience applying iPaaS capabilities including Azure Functions, Service Bus, API Manager, KeyVaults, Logic Apps, Kubernetes, storage and databases.
Strong strategic nous and an ability to deliver innovative change that creates outcomes and value.
A pragmatic and logical approach to decision making.
Results focused and outcome driven.
A collaborative approach to working with Technical Leads, architects and peers, with the ability to take direction, give constructive feedback and build trust.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical options, risks and trade-offs clearly to Technical Leads, project teams and non-technical stakeholders.
A proactive, security-minded mindset, with the initiative to identify vulnerabilities, design gaps and improvement opportunities and to bring clear recommendations rather than just problems.
The ability to contribute meaningfully to design and architecture conversations, and to balance security, performance, cost, resilience and supportability in your technical decisions.
Ownership and accountability, and the ability to work independently within agreed guardrails, knowing when to escalate to or seek guidance from a Technical Lead.
