As an Android Engineer, you will join a team composed of frontend, backend, native apps, data, and product managers and designers to keep improving our mobile experience and impacting thousands of customers every day.

Team mission

You will work with our Channel Growth, Lifecycle Marketing, and Brand teams in order to maximize the value of what we define as Travel Affinity visitors. These visitors have come to GetYourGuide with the intent to travel but do not yet have a destination in mind and/or have a very limited understanding of who we are or what we do. The team will have ownership over the following domains: Home Page, Display Advertising, and CRM/Lifecycle Marketing.

You will:

• Champion for the continuous improvement of our customers’ experience
• Directly impact the experience of our travelers who are users of the native Android GetYourGuide application
• Maintain a high standard of quality for our code, features, and products
• Translate high-level ideas and requirements into practical solutions
• Contribute to learning and advancement of our engineering practice
• Help build and grow our Team

What you should bring:

• 5+ years of experience in app development
• Experienced with Java, Kotlin, Git, and using the Android Framework
• Knowledge of writing automated tests (Unit/UI/Integration tests/screenshot tests)
• Customer-centric prioritization and data-driven decision-making
• Ability to turn ideas into solid, maintainable code
• Open to learning new technologies and methodologies
• Positive, proactive team player who is passionate about their craft and cares about helping the team deliver
• Capable of working in a diverse team alongside designers, product managers, and  software engineers
• Written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to others in English

Nice to have:

• Experience with backend development in Java or Node.js
• Have one or more successful Android apps published in the Google Play store
• Prior experience working in the e-commerce space
• Prior experience in start-up environments
