Job Description

The Team

Our Discover team is responsible for developing and delivering the foundation for best-in-class user experiences in the SEEK Android app.

We are an agile distributed team comprised of team members located in Australia, Hong Kong, and Malaysia. The team values, and is driven by, continuous improvement through analysis of user needs and behaviour, and by learning, adapting, and evolving our team capabilities and approaches to drive rapid delivery of value to candidates and hirers.

Being part of a multi-functional team, you’re likely to be interacting daily with many different partners across engineering, product, analytics, design, product, and delivery.

About the role

We are looking for someone with a focus on delighting our customers, a passion for designing & developing Android apps, and producing a high-quality platform that exemplifies our ‘Mobile First’ mantra!

You will be an integral part of our engineering team, with responsibilities including technical alignment, engineering quality, enabling capability of the team, and helping drive continuous improvement initiatives and ensure we are delivering phenomenal outcomes for our customers and other teams at SEEK.

You will play a key role in helping our team drive our unified Asia Pacific vision to deliver a deep and enriched experience across our SEEK, JobsDB, and JobStreet brands that operate in the Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, and Vietnam markets.

Responsibilities

• Design, implementation & delivery of the technical foundations of the SEEK Android app.
• Collaborating across the full engineering community at SEEK, contributing to the evolution of SEEK’s development practices & principles.
• Uplifting of the team’s engineering maturity on app-related approaches and practicing a continuous improvement attitude.
• Maintaining platform health, ensuring our systems are secure, reliable, resilient and cost-effective.
• Leading improvement of our tooling to help the team become more efficient at what we do.
• Participating in our paid after-hours support roster (when needed).

Qualifications

We think having the following experiences in previous roles will position you well to be successful in this role:

• Deliver sophisticated software solutions in complex environments with many partners & dependencies.
• Architected, built, and operated highly scalable, available, performant and secure solutions.
• Built solutions in multiple stacks and frameworks.
• Grown engineers personal and technical skills through coaching or mentoring.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Deep knowledge of the Android ecosystem and API.
• Skilled in Android best practices as well as general software engineering principles and patterns.
• Follow our existing architecture & engineering conventions and drive evolution in them over time.
• Design of and integration with backend services and user behaviour metrics.
• Production monitoring and analysis of unhandled and handled exceptions (DevOps).
• Design, implementation and operational management of feature toggles and A/B tests (DevOps).
• Implementation and maintenance of UI test automation.

Desirable Skills and Experience

Practical experience with Kotlin, Coroutines, RxJava, Koin/DI, MVVM pattern, Clean Architecture, Build Variants, Espresso, multi-module applications.

• Familiar with GraphQL and Typescript.
• Using development and operational tools in the public cloud (preferably AWS).
• Implementation and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiar with library development and maintenance.
