The Role
About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Analytics Engineer to join our Product Analytics team. In this role, you’ll build analytics pipelines that help deliver actionable, automated user insights from product event data. You'll collaborate directly with fellow analytics engineers, product analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders to build robust and scalable data models. Your work will be pivotal in empowering data-driven decisions across our organization, significantly impacting product strategy and customer engagement.

What to expect? 
  • Analytics Pipelines & Data Modeling: Convert existing product analyst queries and reports into efficient and maintainable analytics pipelines primarily using dbt, and optimize data for self-service analytics in Tableau.
  • Owning Analytics Engineering Projects: Take ownership of medium-to-large analytics projects, from scoping through implementation.
  • Transform Product Event Data: Transform and maintain scalable product adoption datasets, ensuring ease of downstream integration and rapid onboarding of new events or features.
  • Event Schema Management: Collaborate closely with Software Engineers and Product Analysts to define, manage, and approve event schemas in Segment, ensuring high-quality data.
What you need to be successful

Critical:

  • Analytics Engineering Experience: 5+ years of experience as an Analytics Engineer, BI Engineer, BI Developer or similar engineering-focussed role.
  • Data modeling and transformation: Expert in building scalable, maintainable analytics pipelines using dbt, SQL, and Jinja for effective data modeling and transformation.
  • Query performance optimization: Skilled at optimizing datasets for fast, efficient querying in enterprise-scale data warehouses such as AWS Redshift.
  • Event Data Management: Adept at working with product event data—defining schemas, validating inputs, and transforming raw events into structured analytics-ready formats.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Confident when engaging with analysts, engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver actionable insights.

Desirable:

  • BI tooling and performance: Well-versed in BI platforms such as Tableau, with a focus on optimizing underlying data structures for dashboard performance.
  • Ingestion and orchestration tools: Skilled in using pipeline orchestration and data ingestion tools such as Airflow and Stitch, along with Python scripting for integrating diverse data sources.
  • Reverse ETL and integrations: Practical knowledge of reverse ETL tools like Hightouch for delivering curated datasets to systems including Salesforce and Gainsight.
  • Large-scale data processing: Proficient with distributed query engines like AWS Athena or SparkSQL for working with datasets at the scale of billions of rows.
