About the Role
The Senior Analyst, Sustainability plays a key role in advancing environmental initiatives across a national portfolio of medical office and life science properties. This position focuses on improving building performance and delivering results in energy efficiency, waste reduction, water conservation, green building technologies, and overall property sustainability.
As a trusted partner to Property Management, Building & Engineering, and the Ventas Sustainability team, you will leverage data, insights, and collaboration to guide near- and long-term sustainability strategies. Key responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Analyze building performance data to uncover opportunities for reducing energy, water, and waste.
Evaluate innovative technologies and products that enhance efficiency and lower emissions.
Support property-level audits and energy assessments, including ASHRAE studies and Net Zero Roadmaps.
Assist in developing and prioritizing Energy Conservation Measure (ECM) projects through modeling and ROI analysis.
Drive execution of sustainability initiatives across the national medical office portfolio, ensuring progress tracking and follow-up with internal teams and vendors.
Review annual capital budgets, monitor financial KPIs, and track sustainability capital project spend.
Coordinate with external consultants on data requests, performance updates, and project documentation.
Prepare dashboards, reports, and presentations that communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual progress toward environmental goals.
Develop sustainability communications materials, including fact sheets, training content, and stakeholder updates.
Research emerging sustainability trends, industry best practices, and relevant topics.
Support green building certifications and oversee Energy Star certification processes.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Real Estate or a related field
3–5 years of experience in sustainability, ESG, energy management, or building performance; commercial real estate experience preferred
Must be located in Chicago, IL surrounding area or willing to relocate for the duration of employment
Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into insights and recommendations
Familiarity with HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life-safety systems is preferred
Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work cross-functionally
Strong research, writing, and communication skills
Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; experience with Engie and/or EnergyStar Portfolio Manager is a plus
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without need for employer sponsorship now or in the future
The estimated base salary range for this position is $84,000 - $115,000 per year. This range reflects a good-faith estimate of the base salary Ventas reasonably expects to pay at the time of posting. Actual base pay will be determined based on work location, skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and business needs.
In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for discretionary incentive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, which includes medical, dental, vision, retirement savings, paid time off, and other wellness benefits under applicable plan terms.
