The Senior Analyst, as part of Morningstar Sustainalytics' Sustainable Fixed Income (SFI) team, will contribute to the ongoing maintenance and development of the methodology and guidance supporting the provision of Morningstar Sustainalytics's Second-Party Opinion (SPO) services, with a focus on SFI's assessment of alignment with the EU Taxonomy.
The role also includes providing on-demand support to SFI's SPO team regarding project-related queries, again with a focus on support related to the EU Taxonomy. A primary responsibility is to ensure that our guidance is robust, well documented, managed/updated in a systematic and timely manner (responding to market and technical developments), and well-supported in their application.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for closely following regulatory developments related to the EU Financial Action Plan (specifically EU Taxonomy and EU Green Bond Standard) to ensure that Sustainalytics' SPO services remains up to date and is informed by relevant regulation and guidance.
- Responsible for the ongoing development and maintenance of guidance supporting Morningstar Sustainalytics' SPO assessment of the alignment of bonds/loans with the EU Taxonomy alignment, and for the provision of training related to such guidance.
- Providing on-demand support to SFI's second-party opinions (SPO) team regarding project-related queries.
- Developing expertise in sustainable debt financing, including current and emerging trends, issues, drivers, risks and opportunities, key players, best practices, the regulatory landscape, etc.
- Developing sustainability knowledge and expertise across a variety of themes and sectors and prepare well-written and high-quality research.
- Liaising with and developing relationships with colleagues across global teams and offices.
Qualifications:
- Passion for sustainability and demonstrated interest in sustainable finance;
- Bachelors degree, preferably in Sustainability / Environment / Climate change / / Social science; Masters degree preferred;
- Expertise and a relevant work experience related to the EU Sustainable Finance Action Plan and regulatory developments in the EU is considered an asset;
- Strong research skills and ability to analyze and interpret data/information;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Accuracy and attention to detail;
- Excellent English oral and writing skills;
- Meticulous, client-centric , and innovative ;
- Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn in a constantly evolving and fast-paced environment;
