Job Description
Why This Role
Assist Agents is Motorola’s next-gen agentic AI for public safety—helping 9-1-1 call takers, dispatchers, analysts, and officers get answers in seconds, not minutes. It’s fast, reliable, embedded in real workflows, and powered by real-time AI.
This AI/ML Engineer role is an opportunity to push the frontier of how public safety professionals interact with language models in high-stakes environments.
Build, fine-tune, and evaluate LLMs and task-specific agents for public safety workflows.
Develop safe, performant systems designed to perform tasks autonomously by making decisions, taking actions, and adapting to dynamic environments.
Collaborate with product, design, and engineering to embed AI directly into real-time workflows—no labs, no “eventual” use cases.
Design and optimize evaluation frameworks, including offline metrics and human-in-the-loop validation.
Work on problems that bridge research and production: speed, hallucination risk, latency, data ambiguity, and feedback integration.
Collaborate with AI researchers and responsible AI team to build the best possible AI solutions for our customers.
3–8+ years working in ML/AI engineering roles—shipping models or pipelines into production.
Familiarity with LLM ecosystems (OpenAI, Claude, Mistral, Llama, etc.) and modern AI stacks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, Ray, Hugging Face).
Experience with agentic AI, RAG pipelines, prompt engineering, prompt chaining, and fine-tuning preferred.
Strong programming skills in Python development and testing (and ideally some experience working alongside full-stack engineers).
Experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, GCP), containerization (Docker/kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
Pragmatism—able to operate in applied, real-world settings with real constraints.
Bonus: experience with AI safety, model evaluation, or regulated domains.
You want to move fast without compromising safety—and you care about what your AI touches.
You’re looking for a team that’s already shipping—and will put your work into production quickly.
You’re motivated by a mission that’s hard to fake: getting first responders the right info, right now.
You want to be the first AI/ML hire on a flagship product, helping shape both the direction and the foundation.
Basic RequirementsWhat You Bring
Proven ability to communicate technical information effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with both local and remote teams
