Senior Agile and Database Engineer

We are looking for a Agile and Database Engineer to join our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) 1 team.

Quipu is the dedicated IT company of the ProCredit group and provides comprehensive end-to-end solutions for all ProCredit institutions, as well as for other banks and financial institutions This includes everything from electronic payment services to software systems, hybrid cloud hosting, and a host of other operations.

A 100% subsidiary of ProCredit Holding, Quipu was established in March 2004 and is headquartered in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Quipu plays a central role within the ProCredit group, providing a comprehensive range of support services that enable the banks to become competitive and efficient.

This role will support environments for Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia and ProCredit Holding.

What your key responsibilities will be:

• Identify bottlenecks, performance issues with the existing queries and tune them to optimal level using query optimization techniques

• Installation, configuration and maintenance of MS SQL Servers (2005-2022) production and non-production environment

• Administer, maintain data integrity and security of MS SQL Servers and Azure DaaS

• Prepare and document Business continuity plan and Backup strategies to ensure resources are available within Maximum tolerable downtime

• Ensure High-availability for mission-critical databases and implement disaster recovery solutions with Always On Failover Cluster Instances, Always On availability groups,  distributed availability groups, Database mirroring and Log Shipping

• Synchronizing and distributing database objects with SQL Server Transactional Replication for Reporting needs

• Obfuscate data on the test environment, maintain and enhance data masking workflow

• Configure SQL Audits

• Automation of day-to-day administrative and operational tasks

Skills and experience we expect from you:

• Proficiency / ability in writing complex SQL queries, identifying bottlenecks and query optimization

• Experience with database performance tuning and optimization techniques

• Expert in managing MS SQL Databases with minimum 5 years of experience as MS SQL Databases Administrator  

• Experience writing T-SQL and stored procedures and query tuning

• Performance monitoring and tuning ability to diagnosis and resolve performance problems occurring in complex environment 

• Hands-on experience with data encryption technologies like transparent data Encryption (TDE) and Always Encrypted and should be familiar with Data Protection Law.   

• Experience with Azure PaaS –SQL Database/Instance, PostgerSQL, Data Factory, Fabric

• Open and friendly personality with an ability to interact with people on different hierarchal and technical levels 

• Well-organised person who can multitask, work independently or as part of a team and has the ability to prioritise work under pressure 

• Excellent English language skills, both spoken and written (German language skills are a strong advantage) 

• Knowledge of ITIL processes and working with a ticket management solution is preferable. Microsoft certifications will be an advantage

• Knowledge of tools like SCOM, SolarWinds, Delphix and Veeam Backup & Replication is preferable

• Understanding of Cloud technologies (preferable Azure)

• University Degree or equivalent (Computer Science, Engineering or Business IT studies would be a plus)
