The Role

Job Description
The Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities (CMBS) group at J.P. Morgan is the leading platform in the securitized finance industry. The group provides a full range of advisory, capital raising and structuring solutions to institutional and middle market clients of the firm around the globe - all directly or indirectly owners of commercial real estate. In addition, the group is an active market maker across CMBS markets with trading activity focused on pooled CMBS securities, agency multi-family securities and whole loans.
As a Senior Agency CMBS Trader (VP/ED) for the CMBS trading team, you will use your expertise in the CMBS markets across our trading desk. You will need to possess a deep understanding of the GSE & HUD multifamily market, strong analytical skills, and experience within the Agency CMBS sector. As a Senior Agency CMBS trader, you will be responsible for managing and trading all Agency CMBS products while working to expand business with our Clients.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Proactively trade all Agency CMBS sectors to increase firm's market share as well as expand client outreach.
  • Monitor Agency Mortgage and CMBS market trends to identify trading opportunities.
  • Appropriately size, understand and manage risk in the portfolio commercially.
  • Enhances reputation of firm through expertise, professionalism, and maturity in verbal and written communications.
  • Builds and leverages partnerships to deliver the whole firm to clients.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior traders and analysts, particularly in understanding market dynamics.


Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in trading, with a focus on Agency products.
  • Proven track record of successful trading and strategy development in Agency products.
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong Understanding of securitized products.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
