The Role

Job Description:

The Senior Advisor acts as a strategic partner and advisor to the Executive Director, Intermountain Health Institute to help drive strategy and ensure Intermountain is meeting organizational goals. This position works closely with enterprise executives on complex initiatives having multiple responsibilities simultaneously, balancing long-term projects with the urgency of immediate demands. The Senior Advisor collaborates with and achieves actionable results through others and builds strong and sustainable relationships at all levels within Intermountain.
The Senior Advisor is an advocate for continuous improvement, evidence-based problem solving and is highly organized with a fastidious attention to detail. The Senior Advisor must have the ability to handle highly confidential information and matters with discretion, be a liaison between the executive leaders and internal/external stakeholders, and represent enterprise executive leaders, as appropriate.

Job Essentials

  • Lead, manage, partner, and/or consult on large scale transformation at a system level.
  • Perform research; analyze and interpret facts/results; prepare meaningful executive summaries and reports.
  • Keep abreast of new technology and industry trends to maintain cutting edge services.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare, or relevant area and five years' experience in a business or (preferably) healthcare environment. (Degree must be obtained from an accredited institution and education is verified.) OR equivalent experience in a complex, highly-matrixed organization with specific experience supporting a senior-level or C-Suite executive.
  • Demonstrated excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail and ability to prioritize workload efficiently.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and project management skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills with internal consulting, and work in a trusted advisor role.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced culture with a demonstrated ability to achieve results in a large health care/multi-division corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate interdisciplinary teams and to develop effective relationships with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement and using Lean/Six Sigma methodologies to create value.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale and complex initiatives across a geographically dispersed system.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business, healthcare, or relevant area.
  • Professional certification in project management and/or continuous improvement.

Ideal candidates would reside in, or are willing to relocate to Utah. Candidates outside of Utah may be considered, but we are are not currently hiring remote workers in the following states: CA, CT, HI, IL, NY, RI, VT, and WA. Business travel will be necessary, regardless of state of residence, and will primarily be within Intermountain Health's service area (UT, ID, NV, CO, WY, MT), but may also require travel within the United States.

This is an exempt, full-time position. Pay offers are determined by prior years of relevant experience within the established pay range. In addition to the annual salary, to show our commitment to you and assist with your transition into our organization, we may offer a sign-on and relocation bonus when applicable. With this position, you are eligible to participate in the Annual Pay for Performance (AP4P) Plan. This plan enables Intermountain Health to provide leaders with an additional performance compensation opportunity. The AP4P award opportunities are calculated as a percentage of your base salary. Awards are paid out based on attainment of selected Board-approved goals.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 

$57.75 - $89.14
