As a Senior Advanced Manufacturing Engineer here at Honeywell, you will lead the development and implementation of advanced manufacturing processes to enhance product quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and innovation in manufacturing operations.


You will report directly to our Sr Director Advanced Manufacturing Engineer and matrix reporting to Boyne City, MI site leader, and you’ll work out of our Boyne City, MI location on a 100% On-site work schedule.


In this role, you will impact the manufacturing excellence of Honeywell’s products by applying advanced engineering principles and technologies to optimize production processes, reduce waste, and improve overall operational performance.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced manufacturing processes and technologies.
  • Introduce creative ideas to assemble small, precision, electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Collaborate with product design, quality, and production teams to drive technical solutions.
  • Front line candidate to work directly in manufacturing environment to develop advanced assembly methods to improve process flow and efficiency.
  • Ability to understand technical drawings, GD&T and specifications.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, SOPs, and standard work while ensuring compliance with control plans.
Qualifications

You Must Have:

  • 5+ years of experience in advanced manufacturing engineering or related roles.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, process optimization techniques, and automation skill set, including experience with industrial controls, automated equipment, data acquisition, programming/scripting, process optimization, and integration of smart manufacturing technologies to improve quality, throughput, and operational efficiency.
  • Proficient in programming languages, including but not limited to LabVIEW, Python, and SQL
  • Extensive experience with test systems
  • Proficiency with data analysis methodologies to support process improvements.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline, preferably Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in high/low-volume mix manufacturing environments.
  • CNC machining programming and machining operation skill set, including the ability to develop, edit, and optimize CNC programs; interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and work instructions; select tooling, fixtures, feeds, and speeds; set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and related machining equipment; perform first-piece inspection; troubleshoot machining issues; and improve cycle time, quality, and process capability.
  • Knowledge of Industry 4.0 technologies and smart manufacturing concepts.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and an ability to think innovatively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with global teams.
  • Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM), testability, and failure mode identification.
  • Knowledge of Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility (GRR).
  • Strong project management skills and ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO and AS9100.
