A Day in the LifeIn this role, you will drive advanced financial analytics initiatives from conception through deployment, supporting critical business decisions across Medtronic. You will lead the development and maintenance of sophisticated forecasting, profitability, scenario planning, and optimization models, leveraging both statistical and machine learning techniques. Collaborating with key partners in finance, data engineering, and business units, you will ensure scalable data architecture and deliver actionable insights through dynamic dashboards and executive scorecards.
As a strategic partner, you will facilitate cross-functional engagement, influence financial strategy through workshops and presentations, and champion best practices in model governance and analytics innovation. Your work will have a direct impact on financial planning, reporting, and the adoption of analytics-driven decision making throughout the organization.

End-to-End Financial Analytics & Modeling
Lead advanced financial analytics initiatives from business problem definition to model deployment and performance monitoring.
Develop, validate, and maintain forecasting, profitability, scenario planning, and optimization models using statistical and machine learning techniques.
Conduct variance analysis, sensitivity testing, and driver-based modeling to support budgeting, forecasting, and investment decisions.
Engage in feature engineering, back-testing, and model interpretability to ensure transparency and robustness of financial models.
Insight Delivery & Visualization
Build financial dashboards and executive scorecards using Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI tools to visualize KPIs, trends, and business drivers.
Translate complex analytical findings into clear financial narratives and actionable insights tailored to leadership and cross-functional audiences.
Continuously monitor model performance, data drift, and forecast accuracy, setting up thresholds and alert mechanisms to ensure reliability.
Data Architecture & Collaboration
Partner with data engineering and finance systems teams to ensure scalable, well-governed financial data pipelines and high-quality datasets.
Define data requirements for planning, forecasting, and profitability models; assist in ETL/ELT processes ensuring transparency and reproducibility.
Contribute to data architecture decisions that enable unified and consistent reporting across financial domains (sales, cost, margin, OPEX, etc.).
Business Partnering & Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with FP&A, Controllership, Supply Chain, and Business Unit Finance teams to co-create analytical problem statements and align on business priorities.
Lead workshops and presentations to influence financial strategy and drive adoption of analytical insights into decision-making.
Define and track adoption metrics and financial KPIs to measure the business impact of analytics initiatives.
Governance, Standards & Best Practices
Establish and enforce model governance frameworks—including documentation, version control (Git), testing, and validation protocols.
Perform sensitivity, scenario, and stress testing for financial models to assess robustness under varying market and operational conditions.
Stay current with emerging technologies and methodologies in financial analytics, recommending innovations that enhance forecasting accuracy and business agility.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree plus 4+ years of experience in advanced analytics, data science, or related roles in a commercial or operations environment.
Proven hands-on experience building statistical / ML models (forecasting, classification, clustering, time series, uplift modeling, etc.).
Proficiency in Python, R, or similar analytic coding languages.
Nice-to-Have
Bachelor’s degree in quantitative discipline (Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics) required; Master’s / PhD preferred.
Strong SQL skills; capable of writing complex, high-performance queries in relational (and non-relational, if applicable) databases.
Experience with BI / data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker).
Experience with cloud analytics / big data tooling (Azure, AWS, GCP; Spark, Databricks, etc.).
Experience with causal inference, uplift modeling, experimentation / A/B testing frameworks, prescriptive analytics.
